There are a ton of quarterbacks that can move the sticks. Scoring points is what really matters and scoring them when you really need them late is critical. Jimmy G gets killed for this.

Jimmy G sucks. Mike White probably does too. But playing quarterback isn't just about dynamic plays and that's sort of what you're alluding to. There's a blend of both aspects being important if you want to be elite.

But at this point, the Jet fan is just exciting about looking competent. That game didn't look much different than what Kirk Cousins and Derek Carr spit out every week. And that's like ten fold what we've experienced for a decade+.

Every week? come on now, the man threw for over 400 yards & 3TDs, Cousins & Carr aint doing that every week. Maybe once every other year or something

Every time the Niners put a QB in who isn't Jimmy G, they show us just how much Jimmy G doesn't suck. He might not be elite but he is a pretty good QB.

I'm talking about the style of play. But Carr throws for 324 yards a week for what it's worth.

I certainly don't think you need a guy the caliber of Rodgers or Mahomes to win a championship. I don't think every successful QB needs to have insane arm talent and the ability to throw off platform. But you do need a guy that can throw downfield in a big spot. There will be times when you have little time left and 70 yards to navigate. That's when it becomes important to be more than a game manager or a dink and dunk QB.

If you want to kill me for not getting overly excited about 1 football performance by the backup QB, that's fine. Like almost everyone here I want the Jets to find a FQB. Hopefully we have one on the roster be it Wilson or White. I honestly don't know if Wilson will turn into that guy but gun to my head I'm all but certain White isn't. It's a great story and I hope he continues to play well and the Jets keep winning. But the Tom Brady comparisons are just so over the top. I guess that's what happens when you have a fan base just so starved of good QB play.

Yeah but what I don't get is that you're the ultimate Jets cheerleader in being excited about the team when everyone's down after getting smoked week in and week out and now you're super down on this guy maybe stringing together a few games when everyone's stoked to watch a competitive game that might not be over in the first half.

But I think you're still holding on to everything that you interpret as a slight on Wilson and it's coming out in like every post about other QBs.

I don't want to get into a Jimmy G debate but I do agree with you. He has a career 27-11 mark as a starting QB, he's completed 67% of his passes and he's thrown 57 TD's against 30 INT's. His career passer rating is 97.8. Yet almost everyone here thinks he sucks. Why is that?

I'm not super down on him at all! I'm just a realist. I never declared Wilson the next FQB because you need at the very least a season to figure that out (I'd want to see 2 seasons, considering we gave Sam 3.)

White had a great game but he had a ton of help. The line played great. The defense stepped up when it needed to. Cincy failed to adjust and that was just pure negligence on their part. I was ecstatic to see the Jets win and for the offense to move the ball. I'm just not expecting to see White have more games like last Sunday. Which is fine. You can't go out every week and throw for 400 yards. But the guy has 4 interceptions in less than 2 games. He only played one game of great football against a team that basically gave him every underneath throw. And to top it off, Mike LeFluer came up with the game plan of a a lifetime. I'll be rooting and cheering like a mad man tonight. I so desperately want to win. It would make the season fun for a change.

Cincy does a great job preventing the big play…they allowed a bunch of underneath stuff but also the Jet players and scheme did a good job of stretching the field too…they were designed to get big chunk plays but Carter and Crowder found the small parts in zone to get good yardage too. As long as White continues to make the right play, this should continue. There’s a ton of good solid pass catching options. Supposedly Colts are good at stuffin the run but struggle with the short passing game, so we may see it continue tonight. He’s got like 7 quarters worth of taking what the defense gives him

Whatever the Colts weakness I'm sure our dynamic offensive coordinator, perched high above the action in his booth, will figure it out and exploit it. :)

I hope he does too. This would be a really nice spot for the Jets to kind of steal one, and get on a little bit of a positive roll for the first time in like... years.

Two and half hours to Mike White time

If the Jets win again it's a happy dilemma

I have no idea how to solve the QB problem

But that's what RS and Douglas are paid for

Rewatched the Bengals game, and as weird as this going to sound…the team seemed a little TOO happy for Mike White. Almost as if they were exaggerating their approval of him to send someone a message.

Yep…I’m not so sure they like Zach (and probably won’t be attending his birthday party.)

Jimmy G may suck, but he's still better than any Jets QB since Pennington (not counting Favre).

On TGG, Jets QBs get graded to a different standard than everyone else.

Eh maybe and by output, yes we can draw that conclusion. But I'd imagine his performance looks no better than Darnold's did. The guy is the most scared player in the pocket in the NFL. He just throws two yard screens and pop passes to elite YAC players like Kittle and Deebo. Those guys make everyone look good along with the above average running game.

Even their own QB's have different grading standards depending on who someone wanted in the draft :D

He's better than Darnold because he doesn't do the dumb stuff Darnold does. Relative to the rest of the league, I'd put him as slightly below average.

You're ignoring the circumstances surrounding the player though. Would he have looked the same or worse here?
