And Chad was barely over, throwing 27 TD's and 25 Int's over the two season span. Seriously, Brian Schottenheimer is not a QB-friendly offensive coordinator. His system heavily punishes mistakes and if there is a flaw in the QB the system will find it. For young QB's it's an absolute nightmare. These guys should be working in a system that is designed to cover up their flaws and develop their strengths. Instead they're working in a system that highlights the flaws and then goes to misdirection and trick plays to try to get things back on track. How the heck is that going to help a young QB get his feet on the ground? If I was Ryan right now I'd lay down the law on the offensive schemes: no more Seminole, no more reverses unless the WR was running the ball, no flea-flickers, literally nothing that was not meat and potatoes football at this point. the Jets are not going to the playoffs this season. They need to make it about developing Mark Sanchez now and that means giving him a framework he can be successful in, not the one that has made every Jet QB trying to run it look bad.
Chad and Brett's combined numbers since leaving Schotty's system: 591/860 for 6548 yards 7.61 y/a 68.7% 41 TDs 12 INTs Passer rating: 101.1
I still don't know why Ryan didn't want to implement a Baltimore offense from last year with the Jets. His reluctance to keep it beyond simple like they did for Flacco last year baffles me. It almost seemed simplified early on, and then once Schotty got a shiny new toy in Edwards he just went away from the early success. Sanchez was throwing slant routes to Cotch and everything looked great, and then the simple stuff went away and attack mode is being played with and wasting timeouts at the 1 yard line. That's why the language needs to be the same and someone else needs to call the plays.
In all fairness, Favre is having an uncharacteristically low INT season. His career low since becoming a starter is 13 and he only has 3 so far this season. Still, the comparison certainly doesn't look good for Schotty.
its scary to say, but I think Childress just gets Favre and what he can and cannot do. He also has the ability to be a playmaking game manager with that running back he has behind him. It was the perfect storm...... But if he's still Brett Favre, he'll throw that pick when it matters.
Another thing about using these types of rankings is that they assume the QB has played a certain way consistently. We all know that in sanchez's case this is not true. He's had some really terrible games and a few really good games. His really bad games have been REALLY bad which drags his total numbers down.
