Gase wouldn't BS like that? lol The team he has to work with now is like a diamond in the rough compared to the talent he had with Miami...and he knows it I have no idea how hard the Dolphins worked or did not work last May ..the big difference are the players
Joining the positive train with my main positives. 1. We have Sam Darnold, Jamal Adams, Leveon Bell, CJ Mosley and some good pieces that could form a good team. 2. We don't have Bowles and Mike anymore who could do nothing with it all. 3. The season hasn't started yet so we are technically tied a top of the AFC East, Number 1 seed and unbeaten. All positive in May! Roll on September.
Did anyone bring up that Jeremy Bates ISN'T our Offensive Coordinator anymore and can't hold back or derail Sam? I think I forgot to mention him. That is probably one of the biggest positives this off-season has brought us! It is a positive for Bates too, as he can now put on a backpack, fill up his water bottle, and go for a 4 month hike!
While I love the optimism, I reckon I've read about a new OC being the biggest positive every time we've had one since I've been reading this site. Addition by subtraction. Even Sporano got it! I know, it's tough to be worse but somehow the Jets always seem to manage it. Hopefully this time is different.
Sporano by all accounts was a great guy and great football coach but he was the worst OC I have ever witnessed. (God rest his soul)
Are you sure Bates is gone? I could have sworn I just heard something about the best offensive mind in the building.
I hear you, but frankly the long, dark, stretch of poor OCs coincided with HCs that were all defense, all the time. The OCs were relegated to a status of benign neglect. Added to that was the drafting was also defense-heavy with most of the prime picks being used for BPA-D. We finally have a situation where we have an offensive-minded coach, and have added a lot more talent on the "O" side. There's still more to do, but it's much improved, at least on paper.
Yep. All that cannot be denied. We don't know if Gase will succeed or not, but we know he has a better chance than what the Jets have recently had before him.
You and I both. There is a lot to be excited about as a Jet fan. Lets get training camp on the way and keep our boys healthy for the season. May Bell raise hell and open up many new doors for Sam to develop into our FQB
I found it weird, in a positive way, that he was all "oh snap" in the video about putting on the jersey for the first time... when he's been in the team for like 2 months?
I think it's an entirely different feeling when you are actually at the facility for media day wearing the jersey for the first time. What was so cool, was his genuine excitement to be wearing it. I am so pumped for this season! There is so much to look forward to.
