Sign receivers and cbs in the FA. No superstars, just solid #2 guys. Every single draft pick take OL. Have a good ole QB competition but for every single spot on the OL.
Appreciate Dark Knights effort to lift our spirits in this time of woe. My only hope is that Douglas and Gates can right the wrongs made by past coaches and GMs and build us a team that can at least compete credibly in this sport. For as much as I hate the Pats why can't we at least model our recruitment and operation to emulate that successful (vomit, vomit) organization? The clueless Free Agent Band Aids won't cure a team with a bullet head wound. Just stop the madness...
You won't get that unless you have a clear, overriding vision from the top and the management structure to suit. That's the first thing I would do.
This isn't much but its something to keep in mind. In the SB era we have made the playoffs 14 times out of 53 seasons. This isn't great, but compared to many other 'hard luck' teams its pretty good. Whats better, when we make the playoffs we are rarely one and done. 8 out of 14 appearances we advanced the the next round. More than half the time we make the playoffs we win a game. In 25 playoff games we are 12-13. Nearly .500 which is better than many teams. This is also a good stat compared to most teams playoff percentage. Heck we have won 6 more playoff games than the Cowboys since their last SB in 95. Its been a long time since some teams have won a playoff game. Last playoff win: Bengals -1990 Lions - 1991 Browns - 1994 Bills - 1995 Cowboys - 1995 Dolphins - 2000 Raiders - 2002 Buccaneers - 2002 Redskins - 2005 We have been to the conference championship 5 times - and 3 times in the last 20 years. Some teams have gone far longer. Last Conference Championship appearance: Bengals -1988 Browns - 1989 Redskins - 1991 Lions - 1991 Dolphins - 1992 Bills - 1993 Cowboys - 1995 Raiders - 2002 Buccaneers - 2002 Chargers - 2007 We are undefeated in SB's at 1-0. Yes it has been a long time but there are still 12 teams (more than 1/3 of the league) who have never won a SB. It ain't much but its something.
Mac blindly traded up not knowing who he’d get at QB, and in doing so missed on Lamar Jackson who he could have traded back for. There was nothing positive about this move to date.
Do U care about of the teams in your post IF you do not why posted it? just because there are other bad teams does not make it right for us to B scrapping the bottom of the NFL bottom
This thread is about being positive...and the only thing we have to be even a little positive about was in the past. We are suffering now. But other teams have suffered also - and for far longer. This includes the Bills and the Dolphins - which is also a positive thing. They haven't won a playoff game since the the Kelly/Marino days.
Situation plays a huge factor. If Darnold was on the Ravens, who knows how great they would be? If Jackson was a Jet, he would likely be a mess right now. Probably injured and maybe already converted to a WR. Lamar fell into the perfect situation. Allen did too as the Bills D is great. Baker, Sam, and Rosen? Not so much...........
No doubt. My point was more towards Mac trading blindly which exemplifies how bad he was; he simply got lucky Darnold was there. Jackson getting passed on, and his success, only exacerbates that.
The positive is that Lamar Jackson went to a winning organization that can challenge New England rather than rotting into football hell and becoming RG3 with us or a team like the Redskins.
