The game wasn't all that important to me also. I feel as tho this topic was made because there are Jet fans that literally wanted the Dolphins to win the game. I can't do that, it's not right. I hate the Dolphins too much. You didn't care about the outcome and that's also how I felt. To legitimately ROOT for the Jets to lose though? Eh, pretty messed up IMO
At this point, if you're even slightest bit interested in turning around the franchise you are a true fan.
The NBA has the worst system regarding draft picks. This is why cellar dwellers stay there. Sacramento Kings and the Milwaukee Bucks will always suck because the "lottery" is a joke.
The sad thing is that, even if we were to lose the rest of our games from here on out, as long as Tampa Bay and Jacksonville do the same (very plausible), we'd only be picking 4th.
When I'm watching the games I don't actively root for a win or loss. I hope the end result is a loss tho and I don't give a flying fuck if anyone thinks I'm a real fan or not. This organization needs a house cleaning and a franchise QB and the very best way to accomplish this is by losing out. Winning does absolutely nothing for now or the future.
I still root for the Jets to win, but I'm just not upset when they lose anymore. It makes sense for them to lose and get a better pick. It's still too weird for me to root for them to lose and I always end up rooting for them to win, I just don't get disappointed with the letdown of a loss.
Can you really watch this team next year knowing you rooted against a majority of the roster the year before? Can you really root for the fuckin Patriots and Dolphins to beat the jets and keep up the guise of being a fan of the Jets? Can you really call yourself a Jets fan if you root against the players CURRENTLY on this team with futures here and want them to do poorly? Root for the jets to win. every time. thats number one on the list of what it means to be a fan. The silver lining of draft options is something that should only be appreciated once all is said and done, not mid season.
At what point are we bigger fans of crapshoots we MIGHT get than whats right in front of us? At what point is it so impossible to improve the team through the draft because the talent already here pulled out a win here or there and moved us back a few spots? I mean sure minding what we can get is fine, I made a Hundley thread and have said I'd like Mariota if available, but dammit I'm not gonna sit here and hope my team doesn't win so some put on a pedestal prospect can be more easily attained. We have people HERE who will be here next year to root for. I've said before and I'll say it again, those hoping for more losses in order to attain a higher draft spot are rooting AGAINST the teams future not FOR it. most of the future is already here, god forbid they win a few games those schmucks I'll root for again when X arrives.
Yes, I can and I will. I am not against individual players on this team with the exception of one man, Michael Vick. I have never and will never root for one team against the Jets. Wanting the Jets to lose is not the same as cheering for the opposing team to win. I wasn't sitting in my home saying, "Go Dolphins" or any of that shit. If I was saying anything is more along the lines of, "I can't wait for this fucking coach to get fired and hopefully it takes that muppet GM with him". Again, I don't root against players unless it's Michael Vick. Some guys on this team suck and don't deserve to be on any NFL team, let alone the Jets. But I'm not sitting here saying, "Man I hope Geno gets injured". With all due respect, you and I differ on what it means to be a fan. If I want this current team to lose a few more games, it's because I have the future in mind where we can have a good QB, dare I say even a top QB, and when you have that, you can win a lot of games. Isn't that what we all want as fans, to win? The only difference is, you want us to win meaningless games so you make yourself feel better. I want to win next year, so we can all celebrate a Super Bowl again.
