Neither did I. He doesnt have a history of crime or any run-in's with the law that I know of. So why would you think thats what I was talking about?
Facts: 1) this goes against idzik's philosophy on building through the draft to attain cost efficient long-term sustainable success. 2) jets are on the hook for just 7mill this season and are not stuck with his contract as it is not guaranteed. 3) Harvin is injury prone and is more than likely to be off the field than on it. 4) at 10.5 - 11 mil salary cap, why would idzik of all people want a good chunk of his salary cap to be on an oft-injured player? 5) jets schedule lightens up but they are pretty much out of contention this season but more evaluation needs to happen I.e is geno worth passing up on mariota, Winston...is rex worth it etc. My analysis on this trade Idzik did not do this trade because he thought Harvin is going to be part of the long term plan. This trade was done to give jets more talent for a short term evaluation of Geno and at the same time get the media off his back. Jets are only on the hook for a 4th round pick and the rest of Harvin's contract this year (7mil). Just 7 mil! and 7 mil and a 4th round pick is a drop in the bucket when compared to figuring out if geno smith is worth passing up on two potential franchise qbs (Mariota and Winston). Unless Harvin restructures significantly, I bet my last dollar Harvin will not be in a jets uniform after this year. You think penny pinching idzik is gonna get stuck with damaged goods in Harvin when he could have had Desean Jackson at around the same cap figure or less. Come on, this is idzik we are talking about. Although he has made some terrible draft selections, the man has a plan and his plan is long term sustainable success which is a complete contradiction in locking up a high cap oft injured player in Harvin. In other words do not buy a Harvin jersey cause he won't be here for long.
If Idzik really gave up a 2nd - 4th round pick, and 7 million in rollover money for next year, just so he can evaluate Geno Smith, then he should be fired tomorrow. You can evaluate him without that just watch the tape. Is he holding the ball too long, or is nobody getting open? When someone is open, does he find them? Is he throwing interceptions into double / triple coverage, or are they happening because his receivers are getting beat 1 v. 1. We could have Harvin or not, you can still tell those things. Also Jameis Winston will most likely never play a down in the NFL. He's a rapist, and the in the next year or so the shit is about to hit the fan, like it never has before in college athletics. Florida State and the Police Department covered up the fact that their prized QB recruit along with one other player raped a girl. I live in Tampa, and everyone knows it here. You turn on sports radio down here and the majority of FSU fans have turned on Winston because they know his actions will end up destroying their football program and potentially their entire school. This is why all of the minor shit like yelling fuck her in the pussy keeps coming up in the media too. ESPN and the other networks have made sure to portray Winston as an immature asshole that nobody likes, because they know he will fall hard soon, and that will make for great ratings. It's just like their constant "The Jets fucking suck" montra that they have had for years, even though the Jets in the last 5 years have been average to good. The Jets sucking is good for ratings.
Amaro doesn't advance the running game much. He's a receiver not a blocker. So for him to get more snaps right now the Jets would have to line him up outside, opposite Decker. That's probably not going to happen.
Vick was a beast under MM. MM does some dumb stuff but blaming him for Geno's issues is ridiculous. Having Geno run every other play wouldn't make him a franchise QB, it would kill him. Geno has speed and strength but he's not a very good scrambler and doesn't always find openings right away, plus the O-line isn't good. I would rather see Mariota as a Jet, but while Winston has some very serious red flags and I don't know if I can ever root for a likely rapist, he's an amazing talent and knows the position far more than Geno or Sanchez. I would hate to draft a QB already again, but if Geno doesn't show progress, and we can get Mariota without giving up anything...
^Morningwhig put together a gameplan that called for 68yds. Morningwhig cost us the Green Bay game. He definitely coached Geno from running. Zero adjustments, same old shotgun, he is a terrible offensive mind.
Had a chance to chat with some Philly fans I work with and they all simply shook their heads. They're saying Geno isn't as bad as MM is making him out to be. Hell, they also said they'd rather keep Sanchez than take back MM. I did ask if there's been a Sanchez sighting on the sidelines and they said just once after Foles took a big hit. They were terrified of Sanchez going in...
OLine still a bit of concern with the backbreaking penalties they take but I like Aboushi already over Winters so the pass protection should only be better than what it was the first 6 games.
Geno's run shotgun forever, and he is a lot more comfortable out of shotgun. That's why they use the shotgun. If they trusted Geno under center, he'd be under center more.
Well said! If he's willing to bounce on the Jets because of Winston, I heard Brady was looking for some butt buddies.
Relax Gang. The rest of the year is for evaluation. I am told that the Jets will put a team on the field next year. Step back!
