No worries. Well, you're getting into subjective stuff like how it "should" be vs. how it is. Sure, in a perfect world corners wouldn't get paid nearly as much as they do for the amount of impact that they have on the game. But they are, and Revis is the best of all of them. The way these players think, it's all about making more than someone that you are or are perceived to be better than. So while in reality a corner wouldn't make 10% of the cap, the sad truth is that he does.
Hobbes, you pretty much want us to be the Patriots.. without arguably the best QB in NFL history, two outstanding TEs, and as of late a good run game. I hope it works out. Oh and to add to that, you pretty much want the Jets to forget about defense, like the Patriots. If one side of the ball ain't getting it done, you need the other side to keep it close to give the other side a shot. But forget "Mevi$", get rid of him, we don't need him. Can't believe that jerk wants $13 mil + a year.
I love your assesment of Wilson and I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets p'd off about the finger wave... it's like scrub you just got burned. If the QB doesn't overthrow his WR by 5 yards it's a TD. The 49er game was the worst, he was burned by at least 2 or 3 yards on 3 occasions only to see him do that stupid wave. I wanna see him be better for obvious reasons but he's the kind of guy I would root to get beat every time if he played for another team. He's essentially Deion Branch, a guy who sucks but acts like he is all world after every play. We saw how much Branch sucked with the Seachickens and now we all know how much Wilson sucks. Guys who suck should not bring attention to their sucking.
Without plugging a guy that every team in the NFL passed up 6 times, then plugged into a great system? That guy? We played well on D this year. I'd rather fuck Mevi$ and keep Landry. And I think MM can make our current roster good enough to elevate the team beyond Rex's previous success. Why am I wrong?
Are you really implying that those teams were correct to pass on him 6 times? That if teams knew then what they know now that he would still be drafted in the 6th? If it were anybody else I would know that I am interpreting that wrong. But considering you said you wouldn't trade Sanchez for Brady I think I am actually getting your meaning correct. It is hard to fathom that in 2013 you would be using his draft position as a knock against him instead of seeing that as an indicator of the draft being an inexact science and that a guy can put in enough work and time in the film room to overcome that draft position. It is just flat out hilarious that you are discrediting a 6th round draft pick by saying he is the product of a system, meanwhile you are bailing out Sanchez who was a 1st round pick simply because you think his poor play is due to his being the product of a bad system. So a 6th round QB "needing" a system to put up GOAT-type numbers means he sucks. What does a 1st round QB "needing" a system to even be average mean? Shouldn't a 1st round talent who is clearly better than Brady be able to succeed without a system? Do you not see how misguided that is?
I like the way this guy thinks! Revis, his agent, and fat uncle Gilbert dont. 11 Million TOPS for 3 years. Take it or be traded.
I guess as misguided as the coaching staff that saw him EVERY DAY on the practice field, and still were putting Bkedsoe behind center. Just sayin.....
anyone who uses the term mevis with a dollar sign is a horse's ass. As if other NFL players do not try to get as much money as they can when they negotiate contracts. It is the height if juvenile behavior to use that term. No wonder I have the OP on ignore.
Are you going to give a real response or are you just going to waste my time? I asked several questions and I don't see any answers to them in your post. You claim to not run from an argument so I'm giving you the chance to back that up.
I agree. They talk like Revis is the only player who wants money. They want him to be "Wevis" , all for the team. You gotta make your money when you can.
So, that's not a legitimate response? On what planet? Until Mo Lewis punctured Bledsoes lung....Brady was riding pine.
True but it is also not an either/or. You can't just say that all NFL players try to get as much money as they can without acknowledging that some NFL players are bigger pains in the ass to negotiate with.
What part of my post does that address exactly? We all know simple facts such as: -Brady was a 6th round pick -The Pats/other teams did not know Brady would end up putting up GOAT-type numbers -Brady was behind Bledsoe -Brady, despite draft position, ended up putting up GOAT-type numbers The parts of my post that are unanswered by you are: -Are you really implying that those teams were correct to pass on him 6 times? -That if teams knew then what they know now that he would still be drafted in the 6th? -So a 6th round QB "needing" a system to put up GOAT-type numbers means he sucks. What does a 1st round QB "needing" a system to even be average mean? -Shouldn't a 1st round talent who is clearly better than Brady be able to succeed without a system? I'm serious. I would like you to tell me specifically what part of my post your statement of trivia tidbits is supposed to answer. If not then answer the above questions. Why are you making me instruct you on how to respond to somebody's point? I already learned this ages ago but you are just posting what you want to say, and then when somebody gives a thoughtful response you are giving an incomplete answer and/or not answering at all. Then later in the thread you regurgitate the same arguments as if the whole thing never happened.
My point then is this exactly. Brady was a very average QB. Until they pugged him in to a very good system. I'm not saying he hasn't been great. But a large part of it is the coaching, and the system. No different than say Steve Young. Remember if youre more than 12, Belli gave Welker 12 million dollars when no one else would. Because he had the plan in mind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wes_Welker Read Welkers first four years. Cut from SD, then three years in Miami...in danger of getting cut Belli gives him 12 mil. Yeah, coaching has nothing to do with it. Thr prior year he caught less than 80 balls. The fins thought he was worth 1.5(roughly). The patsies traded a 2 and a 7. Then gave him almost 3 times the money per year. Checkers is a cute game. Try Chess once in a while.
OK so here is the summary of where we are now. Your answers in bold: -Are you really implying that those teams were correct to pass on him 6 times?-YES -That if teams knew then what they know now that he would still be drafted in the 6th?-YES -So a 6th round QB "needing" a system to put up GOAT-type numbers means he sucks.-Brady does not suck, but is average and put up GOAT-type numbers because of system/coaching Unanswered: -What does a 1st round QB "needing" a system to even be average mean? -Shouldn't a 1st round talent who is clearly better than Brady be able to succeed without a system? In addition you have created some new fodder for discussion: -If Brady is an average QB plugged into a very good system, why did the Pats stop there? Why not continue trying to acquire a GOOD or GREAT QB? If their system is enough to elevate average to great, then I can't even fathom what that system could elevate a prospect such as Sanchez to. Maybe he throws for 800 TDs and wins 10 rings :breakdance: -Welker was absolutely in no danger of being cut after 06. I see that you busted out the scholarly football journal of Wikipedia. Well. Heh, let us use that then to prove you are twisting facts to prove your case: Yes, clearly he was in danger of being cut. If you wish to get more than the Wikipedia version of things then read this. http://www.boston.com/sports/footba...triots_pounced_fast_to_grab_welker/?page=full
Let me tell you some little known facts... The Dolphins have been making terrible personnel decisions for the past decade plus. The Pats have been making great personnel decisions for the past decade plus. I'm uncertain why you are pretending that the actions of a franchise with terrible personnel decisions are an accurate reflection of a player's value.
Again, as I have said elsewhere, there seems to be a general assumption among many posters that ALL the problems with negotiating Revis's current contract were the fault of Revis and his agent, with no blame whatsoever apportioned to Tanny and the Jets. I think that is ridiculous given the many problems Tanny and the Jets have had with other players. Now of course given Revis's status as the best player on the team, his contract negotiations took on a greater importance than really any others. The stakes were higher. Does that mean the tensions also had to be higher? Of course not necessarily, but it is not surprising, either, that they were. I just do not assume as many do that those problems were all Revis's fault.
No one thought Welker was worth a 2, a 7 and 12 mil over 3 or4 You'll notice as well, thT no matter who leaves the staff the Pats offense functions the same, except for bringing in Moss. They no longer rely only on the OC. He's a complement to their offensive philosophy. The institutionalization of Weis play book, after the institution of the Polian rule...is what made it happen. McDaniels left...they functioned no differently...when he was free the brought him back. Teams shou,d have play books, not OCs. Right now, if the Jets were that smart, there would be a copy of Rex's, in the vault, and then a copy of MMs. Then the coaches are a plus, bit the organization, functions regardless. It's how all other corporations do business. That billion dollar franchises don't, is fuckin g retarded. The pats get that.
