You just made my point for me, thank you! Its about fucking EXECUTION!. We know what the Pats are going to do and we STILL cant stop it. Just like last year when we were running the ball well. Everyone knew the run was coming but they couldnt stop us. I cannot believe most of you think play calling is more important than execution. 17-44 is why we lost yesterday. Period, end of discussion.

    Both ate critical.

It's hard to execute playing into what the defense is trying to do, i.e. Rushing into a stacked box.

But, when the right plays are called, you need to execute.

    Jets did neither right yesterday.

both are crucial but execution is far more crucial. You can execute perfectly a play that might not have been teh best call at the time and succeed. If you dont execute even the best play call in the world wont work

    I disagree with you.

ESPECIALLY when dealing with a young QB.

Young QB's need to be put in a position to succeed.

You need to play call to their strengths.

If you set them up for failure, you cannot expect them to execute properly.

If we are talking about a veteran QB, I agree with you.

Part of being a good coach, is knowing your players strengths and weakness'.

Can anyone imagine Parcells letting his team run into a stacked box on 1st and 2nd down as often as the Jets did yesterday?

    NO FN way!

It's funny because half the people criticizing the play calling are saying we passed too much and half are saying we ran into the stacked box too much. The funny thing about either option is that if you don't execute the play won't work.

Our o-line couldn't pass block or run block, our receivers couldn't catch, and Nacho was throwing to the other team half the time.

It's on Schottenheimer to have his unit executing consistently but I don't think the play calling is as much of a factor as people are making it out to be.

If you watched the game, the Jets were CONSTANTLY running up the gut, with 9-10 guys at the line.

Its asking for a fkng disaster.

No O-line can be successful doing that, none!

They passed so much because on 3rd down, it was ALWAYS 3rd and long, and they were trailing late in the game.

    They had no choice.

Sometimes you have to take what the defense gives you.

Look at what the Colts did to the Giants when they played.

The Giants sold out to stop Manning and the passing game, and they ran the ball right down their throats, then, when the Giants adjusted, they started throwing.

The FkNG Jets are the definition of insanity, trying the same thing over and over again, expecting a different thing to happen.

If you keep running the ball at a stacked box, you will get nowhere, period.

Sometimes you have to throw when they expect run, and run when they expect throw.

The Jets run when they expect run, and throw when they expect throw.

That is not how to put your young QB in a position to succeed.

How many slants did they run yesterday?

    How about play action?

They ran short on 1st and 2nd, and threw on 3rd and long, and the defense knew the exact routes they were running, had pressure on the QB and jumped the routes.

Something is seriously seriously wrong with the guy designing the plays, teaching the players, and calling the plays.

eh, some of those stupid "trick" plays are absolute horseshit...... the 4th and one fancy whateverthefuckitwas then run right up the gut was the DUMBEST PLAY I HAVE EVER SEEN!! A bunch of stupid motion, that essential took 2+ guys out of the play, then attempt to run up the gut...seriously?!?! If they wanted to pound it up the gut for a yard, put in the power package bunch up and pound it.

That being said, the execution most of the game was horrible, the oline was shitty, Sanchez looked horrible, receivers couldn't catch crap.... where does it start, and more importantly, when does it end?!?!

And...maybe....JUST FUCKING MAYBE.....We can stop using Hartsock and a FB.

The number of plays we ran yesterday, with Hartsuck and a FB on the field, were ridiculous. And Half the time we run away from the useless bastard.

When we line up to run the ball and the box is stacked it's on Nacho to check into a pass play. If he doesn't have the ability to check to pass, then that's on Schotty. I don't think we know if he has that permission or not.

Last year we would have lined up with a RB in the backfield and ran it down there throats. This year we aren't moving the d-line. That's probably why he went with something unconventional there.

I see that in a sense, but that play essentially made it 9 vs 11 to pound out 1 yard.... STUPID!

Is the absence of Faneca starting to show itself? (yes, I know his play was slipping, and he's getting long in the tooth) but the running game clearly isn't the same.

Either way, it's on Schitty, IMO.

1st off, Sanchez is always late getting the play in, and I think that is intentional.

2nd off, if Sanchez has the ability, which I really don't think he does, and he is not, Schotty needs to grab him by the facemask and tell him to fkng do it.

If Nacho has the option to check out and he isn't then it's his fault. But yea, if he has the option and isn't doing it Schotty should be doing a better job coaching him as to when he should do it.

it was almost like they were afraid to run off tackle with hunter in. why arent we running more stretch runs and tosses or a regular counter not the swivel run stuff everyone is stopping now.

just gets old watching us run in betweem the guards almost 90 percent of the time.

yesterday was sad mostly cause if we get open sanchez makes horrible throws. in tight coverage he makes crazy throws that get dropped. nobody showed up except our defense yesterday.

and for all the talk of how good this defense can be without Jenkins our defense is still streaky ass hell with the pass rush and giving up 3rd down runs.

were in severe need of another edge rusher to open up the middle overloads rex runs.

    anyways rambling now.

Sanchez looked like someone stomped on his puppy. i dont like seeing the qb look so fuckin pissy while only being down by 10. thats pretty bad for leadership when everyone else has to find the fire under their ass. especially since Sanchez is extremely better when he looks like hes playing without a care.

I'm pretty sure those are just failed timing routes. The receiver and QB aren't in synch and they should be turning around when the ball is delivered.

I have yet to see a flea flicker this year. Where the fuck is it? Where are the slants, draws, out routes? How can you have 3 #1 WRs and they not get open? If Hartsock isn't doing it, how about putting Cumberland or Mulligan in. Are they that bad? We drop guys like LW & DW and have 4 TE's sitting on the PS? Put them in. Run a 2 or 3 TE set and see wtf happens.

At this point there ain't nothing to lose.

like ive been saying for months, there is no variation in the running game

when we are in shotgun, the defense knows were going to pass because weve run maybe 5 draws all year

then the first down runs. its not only that were showing no variation by running damn near every first down, its that were running the same HB dive up the middle every play. i saw maybe 2 stretches, no sweeps, no counters; just dive after dive up the middle

    shotty is horrible

I frankly don't think the pass attempt shows the whole picture. You won't see me barking at Nacho for his 44 pass attempts this week. I think I barked at him for passing too much in the GB game, but then I rewatched the game and learned something.

    I'll just take yesterday's game.

Sanchez's 20 pass attempts came from 3rd and long. You can practically chalk that up as incomplete (but Nacho somehow connected about 4 of them.) Sanchez's throwing numbers sans the dismal 3rd and longs come at more reasonable 13/20 line, which I am perfectly happy with. Even with all the stupid drops and all, Sanchez still did respectably if the defense didn't have the chance to tee off on him.

Why perpetual 3rd and long? Because Jets play selection on 1st and 2nd down is not good (1) and Sanchez does not change the play at the LoS. (2) I think there was an article about how Sanchez was unable to change the play when the defender (safety) moved up on the box as the play clock winded down. Simply, Sanchez is not getting enough time on his play clock to survey the field and make necessary adjustments if he needs to. Look at Peyton Manning or Tom Brady play. They always, ALWAYS play fast. In case of Manning, he never breaks huddle with time on the play clock less than 25 seconds.

Now, what is Sanchez supposed to do? Like I've been harping over and over (yet this keeps falling on deaf ears for reasons I have no clue about) Sanchez is not getting his plays fast enough. 15 seconds on the clock, if it's that quick. In last week's opening drive, Sanchez got the play at the usual 15 secs, but since the stadium was so loud, he had to check back at the sideline more than once. What's more, if the offense has but handful time on the clock, it makes the defense's job that much more easier. Schotty's motions are usually meaningless, and with 7 or so seconds to worry about, you have to KNOW the offense will be barely getting the snap off at 0 to 1 second on the clock - especially if that meaningless motion takes yet another 5 seconds off the clock.

I for one cannot really think how this falls on the part of the execution. Ok. This does not fall on the play call - no play will work in such a circumstances. It is NOT about execution. The situation around the offense is just that not a single soul can succeed in the long run. Whose fault is this? Rex? Sanchez? Players? Really?

Regardless of how often he was in third and long, I still see Sanchez flat out missing 6-7 yard throws and screen passes. That really shouldn't happen with an NFL QB as much as it happens with Sanchez.

Never mind the balls that aren't leading the WR correctly.

I'll grant everyone that the weather was awful yesterday, and I put some of the blame on the coaching staff...why throw 44 times in horrible weather?
