This was largely due to the talent left by Parcells and to a short-term strategy of pump and dump on individual years where free agency was used aggressively to fill holes - inevitably causing more holes down the road.

It's worth noting that in this "golden" period the Jets went 4-12 in 2005 and 2007 and 6-10 in 2003. The strategy had no long-term basis for success and when it flattened out in 2011 there was no quick rebuild available of the type that successful teams often have.

    Dolphin fan here..

Man This kid Wilson sure is talented, if he can keep his mechanics calm and fundamental on the small stuff and not try to be the playmaker all the time then he’s gonna be a real good Qb..

He is like Mahomes in the sense that the game was easy for him in college and they just kind of freelanced their way through, he seems to have a good coach in place now that can team him the discipline he needs to apply to his game..

I came here in peace a few years ago just to say that Gase is a scam of a head coach..we both learned the hard way, I look for Sam Darnold to become a real good qb.

I'm not trying to say....I did say...we have a fresh, young, very good looking man for the face of our franchize. Many NFL QBs are MEH, have no charisma. I've seen images of Cam Newton walking thru the airport wearing way-out there freeky get ups with his hair spiked and going in all direction. Totally weird looks. He was trying to make a statement but whatever is was, it sure wasn't 'face of a franchise'. And then guys like Mahomes who gets it. Always smiling, bright eyes. Jpe Namath probably gave us the best Face of the Franchise for many years. Handsome, rugged, girls went crazy for him. Just an overall good looks.

And now we have Zack WIlson, whos baby face, white teeth, baby grey eyes that are always smiling even if his face isn't. Scanning the rookie QBs, Trey Lance is his closest competition, but I think we won the best face for our Franchise.

That was the first Monday Night game ever played in New York by either team. It should have been the last - what an ugly crowd! A fight broke out under the big scoreboard at halftime and it was still going on in the fourth quarter. Nobody thought to add any extra rent a cops. What could go wrong? A bunch of guys from NY with four to six hours to kill between school or work and a football game in November. Maybe nobody thought some might pass the time by drinking themselves into near oblivion.

    Looks mean nothing.

Mark Sanchez was the best looking young QB in the NFL when he came into the league.

Queue the SB parade in 2011 for the Giants and three young ladies were being interviewed before it started and the guy asked them who they wanted to see most? Mark Sanchez!! Mark Sanchez!!! Mark Sanchez!

the easy thing is to go the route I did. just place the trolls on ignore. then when everyone does that the 3 of them can all troll each other while the rest of the board has no idea they exist

I think ignore is fine for your normal angry troll like Abysmal or Stokes but with someone who is trolling the entire board and posting 50 to 100 posts everyday in the same thread where all the replies are about him rather than the Jets, and where all good posts are silenced by the overwhelming number of spam posts ignore does not work. In this case a perma ban is needed. You can't have behavior like this which drives people from using the board, disrupts discussion and disrespects so many people. The actions by this poster was the worst I have ever seen outside of what Hornet did but in many ways this is much worse than what Hornet did because it went on for 2 months and it affected everyone.

You keep mentioning them and calling them trolls is unlikely to help tbh, it is just poking the bear with a stick really.

Yes, I know, I was just saying that you mentioning it more than once will only rile them to reply and those that don't have them on block will once again see the return fire, not all of us want to put Legler on block as outside of this episode he is a good poster.

What is being left out of the mix though is the fact the trolling was going back and forth both ways.

I'd prefer it to be dropped and the board move back to normal relations asap :)

Excellent points & I 100% agree with you and actually would have preferred an offensive head coach. However, I realized something about the NFL while watching the Dolphins this season. I watched every one of their games, not because I'm a fan of their team, it's because I could not believe how much they were getting out of that roster. Then it dawned on me, it is not about the coordinators, whether the head coach is offensive or defensive, all that matters is whether or not the head coach is a leader of men. That includes leading his coaching staff and the entire team. The head coach of the Dolphins was a huge presence on the sideline, in every facet of the game. If you did something wrong whether you were a player or coach, you would either hear about it from the HC, or he would give you that death stare. He willed them to victory with that mediocre team all season long, except for the final game against Buffalo.

Saleh has similar qualities. That's why I say, don't let that smile fool you. He is a leader of men. He will be involved in every facet of the game, just like Belichick who was a DC, Flores main specialty was defense too. If a play call isn't working, you can bet your ass Lefleur will have Saleh in his ear.

The main problem IMO with our head coaching hires in the past is that we always hired a guy who only specializes in one side of the ball. Basically, guys who should only be coordinators, not head coaches. The one time we hire a leader in Parcells, we get the most out of teams that probably would have gone 4-12 under Gase.

but if the others blocked them, it solves that doesn't it? then they can fire into nothing. block isn't permanent. you can unblock him later on. I have no interest in doing that personally but everyone is free to do their own thing. I just have no respect for a few posters who I gave many chances to grow up and cut out the BS as well as trying to reason with them for weeks.

The board is normal to me right now and much much better then it has been for many weeks all with a few clicks :)

There are more posts whining about trolling than there are tolling posts. The bitching and moaning could be viewed as a new form of trolling.
