Agreed. Most people are taking the stance of 'offense struggling as a result of facing a superior defense' but it could just as easily be the defense teeing off on a dismal offense.

I think we'll know in the first four weeks how good the defense is going to be.

Man, what most of you folks are forgetting is that Mr Sanchez is playing against second team guys and names who will be long gone in three weeks.

While Kellen plays against the defense that will start each week in the regular season. Now I am not making excuses, Kellen needs to step up and take the job. Yet, all this talk about Sanchez being so good and he should be handed the job, is B.S...

Let see just how well he will do when he is going against this same defense day in and day out. Some how I have a feeling these glowing reports will begin to change. I also wonder will so many of you willing to throw Kellen to the back-up role, still be feeling the same way if Mark is the one throwing the picks.

I would like to add one other note if I may, living down here in Fish land, Chad is stinking up the training camp as well and I know you all have heard that Falco is not impressing a ton of people either. So before doing the funneral for anyone remember it's still very early in the game...

One last note, if the idiots did not waste a year on Brett, then either Kellen would not be here at all or there would be no question who the starter is going to be this year...

I know I am in the minority ,but my money is still on Kellen surprising a lot of folks....

that is a huge point many people are forgetting. and btw 5-7 is not in-efficient. Chad had those numbers numerous times throughout his career with the Jets. Hell what was one of our biggest complaints about chad? he always seemed to check down. This appears to be what Clemens did tonight. It also sounds like every drive was murdered by penalties and dropped passes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I just read somewhere that Mark was actually getting MORE reps with the 1's than Kellen was in the last few practices.

Perhaps someone who was there can clarify - what percentage of Mark's snaps in the scrimmage were against the 1st team defense? Kellen's?

Anyone else find it interesting that Danny Woodhead got his name called 9 times in this scrimmage?

This leads me to believe that the coaching staff is grooming him to be our new fresh-legged, scatback player since Leon will be playing a much more significant role in the offense by way of slot reciever and H back work.

It seems from reports that most of our offense has been passing in camp where we all thought we were going to be a run first team. Is this usually the case in the preseason or has Rex lost sight of what he's actually doing with the offense?

    My favorite parts:

Our defense is strong without Kris Jenkins, which is HUGE.

Mark Sanchez potentially going 13/15, it's that kind of efficiency we need to be successful this year.

    Really everything about our defense

    Dustin Keller has improved blocking.

Shonn Greene shows he isn't just a bruiser back and goes for a 38 yardd screen pass.
    ________________________________________________________________

If we traded for Brandon Marshall...the best blocking WR in the NFL and an amazing, big, young receiver...I like our potential

I'd imagine Woodhead was getting his reps with the 3rd and (maybe) 2nd team offenses. I don't think he's going to be a big part of our offense if he finds his way onto the roster this year. I also wouldn't expect Leon to be playing much as a slot receiver, and he's certainly no H-back. They'll put him in motion out of the backfield, certainly, but I doubt he lines up outside much, if at all.

Yeah, this was my thought as well. The summary says he had some work with the 1st team. I know they've said they're committed to increasing his workload with the 1s as time goes on, but I don't know how many snaps that translated to today.

The thing that concerns me about the sans-Jenkins comment is that there was a report a few days ago that the running game facing our 1st defense exploded as soon as Jenkins came out. They very well may have played better today, but if his absence continued to hurt, the defense's success may say something about our offense's current preparedness as well.

When it's Sanchez or Kellen it's "Efficient"
When it was Chad it was "Checkin' Down"...
    Just sayin....yeah yeah, Chad's gone...blah blah.

I don't care who Starts because I'm a Defensive minded dude. So for me 10-6win with our D getting sacks, Turnovers and booger spewin hits......

    Yeah, We happy.

Alright, we need to make a move to get a number 1 WR. We have more talent on this team than we've seen in a LONG time, and it would be upsetting if the lack of one player set us back from having a great season. I hate to trade away future draft picks more than anyone, but I really feel like we need to get something done. A great defense will only get us so far. Our defense will get worn out if our offense cannot put the ball in the endzone. Maybe someone will surprise us at the WR position, but as the article said, if we gave next years 1st for an Anquan Boldin, I would not be upset by any means.

If the defense is going to be scoring a lot they need to be fit, that brings them right back on the field.
