I had no idea this was her only hit in usa , I thought being on happy days was because she big in the us She was massive in uk and australia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzi_Quatro
That was gonna be my next one. We all have different taste but I can't tell you how much I despised that song as a kid. Oh, no, it's Chinese water torture! I still hate it.
It's been gone over more than once. Read back if you've got nothing better to do. ; ) Well, with them as well as with others. I also said it's getting harder to find 1-3 hit wonders because so many bands/solo acts had more and that I was sucking at my own thread. Like this!
Didn't read the wiki link but 'Lipstick' was a pretty big hit for her, too. That was the early 80's, though. Olivia Newton-John had her share in the 70s and of course (not Aussie, obviously) one of the most profuse producers and grinding out of hits, ABBA. Their music is so stupid, but it's like crack. Once one of their songs gets in your head you almost become driven to suicide. ELO had a good run in the 70s, too.
Read my links Suzie was still touring here in 2019 https://www.concertarchives.org/concerts/it-s-only-rock-n-roll-1af45bd8-172d-48c1-ac1d-9b9a3f27dd53 Abba was huge in uk and australia . They sold more records per captia in Australia https://www.gusworld.com.au/abba/chart.htm
The chorus (not the words) is 100% shameless outright plagiarisn of Leonard Cohen's 'Famous Blue Raincoat'. It wasn't the first time Cohen was ripped off. He won a settlement on this one but lost over 'Suzanne'. It somehow wound up in the public domain (I'm not sure how), so other musicians basically had free license to record the song without paying Cohen royalties. Happens all the time. Anyway, I hate this song in the first place but I hate it more for theft.
Barrrrrffff!!!! What a maudlin crap movie made worse by lip-synching. The song (which was sung by Debby Boone) was on the radio every 10 minutes. Yeccch, terrible. A double dose of schmaltz.
Yep, I'm off track again, but I have so many memories of this band, I just had to include it. I told some stories about a gazillion years ago that I might re-visit, but I remember when Grand Funk Railroad sold out Shea Stadium in 1971 in record time, full house, and outdid The Beatles attendance wise.
