We'll need to be at least 11-5 to stand a good change in the playoffs. Even if we won the division or got a wildcard at 10-6, I wouldn't be too stoked about our chances of winning anything in the playoffs. We need to play our best football now, as does every team. We don't want to be like the Cowboys of last year; crush everyone in the first half of the year only to start falling apart in December/January. The Jets are coming together in all phases of the game. We got a killer running game. OL is starting to give good protection. Jenkins is getting to the QB. And to me, the biggest factor is that we now have receivers other than Cothery and Coles who can make clutch plays. I think the biggest deciding factor in the next six games will be with the play calling and pass protection. Early on we went from letting Favre air it out way too much, to managing the game way too much. Coaches need to find the right balance there. Also, our pass protection against NE was something to be concerned about. We can't let teams march up the field and take big chunks the way they did. Should be interesting, the Jets have all of the weapons, all of the Talent, just need to get it done week after week.
There is no excuse at all for this team not to go at least 11-5. (Other than lousy coaching of course, or multiple bad injuries maybe)
I'm feeling 11-5. I think Tennessee will be the biggest test, other than that, division games are always tough and Denver is a good team. Although every team that the Jets play is beatable. The Titans will be the toughest.
I think after the Ten game, the Jets have a very good chance of running the table. If Mangini is half the coach we're hoping he is, this team won't let down the final 4 games and play to the level of their opponents..
10-6 is my realistic prediction. @ SEA & @ SF = Our record on the west coast is not good, 0-2. We lose one of these. MIA & Buf = They will be looking for revenge. We lose one of these. @ TEN & DEN = If we beat TEN I can see a big letdown against DEN. If we lose to TEN I see us being focused for DEN. We lose one of these. Hopefully I am wrong though.
tentative predictions: Nov 23 @Tennessee L Nov 30 Denver W Dec 7 @San Francisco W Dec 14 Buffalo W Dec 21 @Seattle L Dec 28 Miami L all that traveling is not going to be good. Fly down to Nashville, fly back up to New Jersey, fly to San Francisco, fly back to New Jersey, fly all the way to Seattle, fly back to New Jersey.
I hate both WC road games. SF is not going to lay down with Singeltary in charge and Seattle is getting healthy. On the other hand I think Denver in our house is outright road kill.
Acually, the Bills game would be scary for me especially after last nite's exhibition of ineptitude by that team. They'll be playing for pride and I don't remember the last time we swept the Bills. I think we'll handle Den and SF. Seattle on the other hand is another "can we stay motivated for 60mins" game. Mangini and Co's time to shine. Isn't this the time of the year when good coaching staffs prove themselves??
Gotta agree with winstonbriggs, i don't like those westcoast trips at all, especially Seattle. I'm pretty sure our defense will find a way to make hasselback look like Elway.
