Even the announcer in the stadium said 4th down and had everybody yelling for Rex's head for throwing a challenge flag... then it gets reviewed, we lost the challenge and it was a first down... then you see the refs clearly showed on the big screen that it was 4th and inches like shown in the pic... i was lost as hell... but now i see why rex threw the flag.
Watching the game on TV it seemed as it was just about as loud for the Pats as the Jets Agreed. Rex should have told the players, once he passes the first down let him score. It would be their only chance to win the game. Also, Rew should have called a timeout before the 2:00 warning rather than after. Obviously, the :05 seconds didn't matter, but there was no excuse not to call the timeout after the first down run.
k, Just rewatched the game and 2 things 1- The ball was spotted wrong 2- The gap was there between the pole and the ball Amendola landed with the ball barely crossing the the edge of the '5' on the 50 yard line that is written on the field. Yet, the ball was marked with the entire ball across the number The replay in the stadium had the perfect side view and it was short even with the bad spot. ftr, for those who aren't clear on it. The ball must cross the edge of the steak.. The fact that they challenged this and LOST is absolutely baffling. If this game had playoff implications I would have posted pix etc...but right now I honestly don't gas...lol Bottom line...we get jerked yet again.
Yeah, it was a horrid call and the refs looked absolutely amateur. BUT... The Pats would have converted anyway.. Let's not kid ourselves...
