I doubt it. The contracts aren't going to be as strong with the knee concerns. A full year of proving your healthy would go along way in his contract.

Revis has missed games with leg injuries twice in the last three seasons. If he's not a 16 game starter this year it will impact his deal in a negative way, even if he's still rehabbing the knee when the season starts.

There's some pressure on him to take the best deal he can get right now before he has to expose himself to the rigors of an NFL season.

In a way the Jets and Revis are both operating under high pressure circumstances here. It's not as one-sided as it seems although I think Revis has the upper hand in the big picture.

    Falcons - 49ers bidding war?

It appears Idzik is trying to get a bidding war started, also exec's are saying Revis value is a first round pick and a high conditional for '14

I would post a link to this but I recently joined this forum and it wont let me, check out Ganggreennation. com

then he will walk for nothing.

you MIGHT get a first this year and a conditional next year that can go up to a first, but it would be a crazy condition to get it there. like it would be the 9ers winning the superbowl and him winning dpoy next year.

I agree. I am just saying the contract he could get now won't be as good if he could prove his knee is not an issue. Hamstring is in a whole different galaxy than a knee injury.

I mean its possible, but we can't assume teams will over pay to set a value.

The range of what the Jets might get is still wide open in my opinion, although I think the ceiling is a 1st and a 2nd or thereabouts.

I could see the Lions offering the 36 this year plus a 2nd next year and a conditional 2nd in 2015 if Revis stays healthy next year. Obviously they're not making a deal like that unless they get to sign him to a long-term extension as part of a trade.

I've heard #Jets are telling agents of CB draft prospects they're interested in their guy because they'll draft a CB once they trade Revis.

Looks like they aren't high on Kyle Wilson.

Cromartie could be worth a mid to high 2nd by the end of free agency. The Jets may trade both their high-priced corners this year as the start of the rebuilding process.

good trade them both revis and cro. if your gonna clean house dont just do the kitchen. fuckin basement is a mess too.

  14. Not a fan of this. If we trade Revis for picks only to spend a high one on another corner, I'll lose it.

I know Rex loves his DBs..but I hate "Treading water" type moves. If the Jets want to replace Revis..get their trading partner's #2 corner back in the trade package.

I was thinking about this again after reading the daily news report. Moving Cro would free up some more cap space, and maybe net us some more picks. Cro's value will never be higher.

If the Jets are going for "full rebuild" mode, they might at well ship cro out too.

If the 49ers (or whomever) can sign Revis we should get some good value out of that trade. If it's paired with a cro trade, we could be loaded with draft picks this year, which we desperately need to fill other holes on the roster.

    obvious smoke screen is obvious.
there is no way they are showing their cards like that. they are letting teams know if millner falls to 9 a deal is there to be made.
looks like j.idz is going to try to repeat the parcells legacy draft with 4 first rounders

    From Rotoworld:

A source tells ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the 49ers' interest in Darrelle Revis is ".001 on a scale of 1-10."

We're hesitant to take this report at face value. Now that the Jets have essentially put their cards on the table, the leverage game is on. Even if the Niners do want to deal for Revis, coming out and saying so would be silly. They'll be trying to execute the trade while giving up as few assets as possible, as will a fistful of other teams. The Falcons, Bucs, Colts and Eagles all make some sense as eventual trade partners for the Jets.

I'm sorry but a team doesn't draft a CB first round with the expectation he'll be a "damn good" nickel corner. The expectation was and still should be he can play on the outside.

This is an interesting thought. But if the Jets dont have confidence in Kyle on the outside it would be real tough to start a rookie and an underperforming player in that spot.

The trading of Cro really will come down to how they feel about Kyle, because Cro has a few years of high level play left.

the only way a trade works out and doesn't cause a mutiny with fans if they draft player(s) with the picks they obtain and at least one of them becomes a big time impact player this season. If they draft 3 guys and none of them demonstrate the skills to be a difference maker this season or years to come while Revis excels the fans will never forgive the ownership

True, but if those same players take giant leaps next year that could change. Fan expectations of immediate impact will have to be relative to the position drafted.
