Roster is going to get purged again next season with a few notable players being axed due to their high cap hits. Buster Skrine will likely be one of the guys cut, and Winters is being negatively impacted by Wes Johnson who is clearly not the answer at center.

This is the exact type of thread I can’t stand. Don’t you people watch SNY, how disgusted Lucas and Colon get at crap like this? McCown is the QB. He’s played great this year and given the team leadership. That’s it. Both Petty and Hack aren’t gonna play, nor should they. So insulting to McCown the way he’s played to remotely have a thread like this. He’s the QB. The other two guys can hold the clipboard. After this season you draft a QB and McCown mentors him a year and that’s that. So insulting. And makes Jets fans sound ignorant. Lucas looks like he’s gonna explode when he reads garbage like this and Colon is with him.

Under McCown, Robbie Anderson has taken the next step. That’s far more important then ruining everything by playing two guys who everyone’s knows aren’t gonna be part of the future.

    For what it's worth:

    Cam Newton 11/28 168 yds 0 TD 0 INT

    Josh McCown 19/36 307 yds 3 TD 0 INT

More proof of MArk Twain's adage:

"There are three kinds of lies: Lies, damnable lies, and statistics".

    Two questions:

    1. Why don't you list the number of fumbles lost and turned into TDs?
    2. Who won the game?

Amazing thing is happening in Pittsburgh. Brett Hundley looks better tonight, after having five games of experience, than he did his first game played. What a novel concept — with experience you can get improvement from what you have seen previously before a QB has any experience.

This is a novel event happening for Green Bay. I’ve never seen anything like this — a player better after playing a few weeks than he was his first few games played.

It’s not a novel concept at all. THE two guys the Jets have are horrible and that being said Hundley is.

It’s not a novel concept at all. THE two guys the Jets have are horrible and that being said Hundley isn’t anything to brag about. McCown gave you competitive football, have a little loyalty. No reason they don’t draft a QB and play McCown next season also. He’s done nothing wrong other then play for fans who want a couple non NFL caliber players to play over him.

You want to lose the team, the team that’s played their hearts out this season? Bench the guy with the 70 percent completion and 95 percent passer rating for one of those guys. You’ll lose everyone.

Yup, Hundley has clearly hit his ceiling after six games, no way he will continue to improve the more he plays. Packers may as well not play him at all; he’s clearly not any good.

But McCown, that’s a guy clearly on the upswing on his career! Boy, oh boy!

You have your tickets to the Moral Victory Championship Game yet? We are clearly going to make it so you wouldn’t be wasting money on speculation before we secured our spot. Nobody can beat us!

There is a real good chance McCown will be our starting QB next year.
He has played really good football, and has been a steady player on an offensive roster full of shit. He never has time, and his skill players suck.
He gets a one year deal again.
With improved pieces on offense, especially the line, he can score points. If we had a top 10 NFL RB, and an above average o-line, McCown would have this team in playoff position.

Our defense needs major improvement next season as well.
Since McCown has the QB position locked down next year, I guess it will be ok for Mac and Todd to draft defense in the first round.
    We need o-line, Wr, RB.
On D, we need the same things we always do, CB, OLB Rusher, ILB who can cover, DE.
Forget the franchise QB idea in the 1st. Darnold sucks anyway.

I guarantee it plays out this way in the off season. Any takers?

I think you are right. We will drastically overpay him just as we did Fitzpatrick in his second year and he will suck as bad or worse than Fitzpatrick did and we will draft another DL or CB and live in misery for another 15 years.

yea, I knew I'd catch heat for putting up those partial stats and not finishing the thought I had with them.

Those were just a quick grab from the "Final score" page. They don't include the McClown insane fumble (from a freakin' vet, quite Geno-esque of him) that gave the Panthers a TD. Also not included, and misleading, is it doesn't include Newton's rushing TD.

Following the theme of the thread, McCown can put up career numbers (for him anyway) and they don't mean squat if the team is 4-7 and trending into the gutter.

I cannot wait until Buster Skrine is released. Even just watching him play these last 5 games will be tough

Winters might be negatively affected by Wes Johnson who is bad or maybe Winters too just isn't that good on his own. At one point in time Winters was the weak link on this offensive line. Just because the rest of the line got terrible doesn't mean Winters is good now by comparison

Winters has had a weird career thus far IMO. Sometimes he's good sometimes he's not. I'm unsure if its him, bad o-line play in general, or both.

Our o-line in general is a major weak link for this team and will need to be heavily invested in for 2018 if we're going to get any better. Can't draft a QB without addressing the line, can't pay a QB (Cousins) 28 mil a year and put that kind of line in front of him. The game is still won and lost in the trenches and the Jets have neglected o-line for far too long.

Because McCown, no matter how well he plays, seems to consistently make key mistakes that lose games.

There’s a reason why he is a career losing QB. It’s not that he’s devoid of any talent, it’s because the difference between a good and bad QB is that good QB’s rarely make the boneheaded plays that bad QB’s do.

And just like Jets fans seem to really think a 4-7 record is to be applauded because the games are close, so to do we seem to selectively ignore the plays shitty QB’s make to pretend our shitty QB who has earned that 4-7 record is actually a good QB.

A better qb will assist the line. Also, getting the plays in and breaking the huddle faster will help. The defense has an advantage when you come to the line with 5secs left on the play clock and they have to hurry to snap the ball. Play calling isn’t helping either with the typical run run pass putting the offense behind schedule and predictable. The offense has been better than expected but could be so much better with the same personnel. Not saying the o line does not need to be addressed but I wouldn’t pass on cousins or drafting a qb because of it
