Talking about quarterbacks is better for ratings than talking about defensive or offensive linemen. I wouldnt put much stock into what they said about the Jets pick... they dont know anything more than the rest of us, and they have ratings to worry about.

    This show was horrible....

1st its ESPN: I think ESPN is for a bunch of 16 yr olds that dont know anything

2nd: Merril Hodge the clemons comment enough said.....I want to go blind and deaf

3rd: Remember this is the stupid place(ESPN) that said 2005 USC team was in the top 10 of all time for college football teams. I remember my brother and I laughing at some of the things Herbsteit and whoever the other guy was saying USC over Penn St. 94 team 41-10. comeon HAHHAHAHHA
I stopped watching but I think they placed the 2005 USC team that didnt win the national championship #3 ALL TIME what a joke

4th: they have another show this Thursday, how much more junk can they add...

The thing is- the average fan gets their knowledge from these people you speak of. An average fan will not be able to tell who is good at a position that doesn't rely on Stats-- Would anyone here know D Brick is a top 5 player if it wasn't for someone telling us? No- unless you watched Virginia games, and focused on the Left Tackle the entire game. It takes so much research to get grades, and real information on these guys-- no fan would be able to get that info. As for who is drafting who-- if you're not into it thats fine-- but there are plenty of fans who are.

or maybe they are talking about it because there are 3 big time QB's in this draft, and we need one as bad as any team in football.

I can't stand when people make ridiculous dark horse statements like that. It's the kind of thing that they will bring up for the next 40 years if they happen to be right, but you never hear about the other 300 times that they were not even close. I believe it was mortensen who was talking about Losman being the best QB in the 04 draft-- anyone ever hear him bringing that argument up any more?

Just a question for you. Do you just assume that every young fan doesn't know anything??? I think you would find that many younger fans have a better perception of this Jets team then you do. Just because you have dealt with the pain of being a Jets fan longer doesn't mean you are more knowledgeable about the current players or situations. We all sat through the same two field goals that Doug Brien missed and dealt with the same emotions.

    UUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

What happened to ESPN, they dont cover the sports anymore its just the stories. There is no analysing anything anymore. Its just a whole bunch of flash on the tv.

The only reason why they put out this special was to talk about TO more. What a joke. I wish the NFL network covered the draft because they would do a way better job than crappy ESPN.

Tell me this why do they call it a draft special when they talk about TO, what does TO have to do with the draft. I wish I could just go to the draft so I wouldnt have to watch it on ESPN. I really cant take it anymore.

They have even let the only show I had hope for Baseball Tonight go down hill. That really bums me out. The final nail in the coffin is the show Bonds on Bonds.... please Id would rather watch the home and garden chanel over that.

I knew this "special" was going to be a bunch of crap. Where is the breakdown of prospects, where are the sleeper prospects, where is the breakdown. Its junk ontop of junk

Thats my rant... This is my breaking news for ESPN it sucks. I wished I lived in Canada.

thats where you are wrong, go through that game agian
think about it....and the plays before that kick and clock that was wasted

    It was Herm

so mr 17 yr old tell me agian why I am wrong? I have to assume you are the espn(gay age after your threat after that post)
plus my generation is wrong too ESPN's all time rankings, why were most teams 80's 90's 00's teams? but I never voted.... but I thought USC was better until thier stupid crap.
and my brother and I were laughing one team that was underfeated didnt make the top 10 in that listing. ESPN is retarded and admit it look at their posters on their message board.

You 16 yr olds voted USC 3rd best college team ever, LOL. remember your the one that got offended..... and you lost

Mario Williams and D'brickashaw Ferguson are two of the top three talents in this draft, behind Bush. The fact that the Jets are sitting at 4, are almost certain to see at least one of them, and ESPN doesnt acknowledge the possiblity that the Jets could draft one of them...

Anyway, I wouldnt call them 3 big time QBs. As far as drafts go, this one is about as average as they get for QBs from the looks of it. If your gonna take all the hype out of it... Youve got one guy whos a proven winner but who is somewhat lacking in athleticism and arm strength, and who won games largely due to the abundance of talent around him, one guy whos very athletic but lacks football smarts, has a broken release and is generally very unpolished, and another who played at a crappy school, won a few games, has a great arm and good athleticism, but generally isnt the kind of top prospect youll see going in the top of the draft. Not exactly the year of the quarterback.

Conversely, youve got a very rare prospect at DE and the purebred LT that hasnt been seen in the draft for nearly five years, theres a good chance that one or both will be available with the fourth pick, but ESPN wants to talk about the Jets taking a quarterback, despite having 2 former first rounders at quarterback, no answer at DE opposite Ellis, and no answer at OT opposite Jones.

Are serious with that post? Please do not insult 17 year olds until you learn how to write as well as a 9 year old.

1st thing although Herm played a major role in losing that game... it was still Brien who missed two kicks that could have won the game. I blame Herm for some or that game but it was still Brien who missed, so give him some blame. Second, unless you have some inside source that lets you know of all the sports information out there, ESPN is one of the ways to get information, and I do not think USC is the third best team of all time.

Are you serious? You think this is an AVERAGE year for QB's? Leinart has one of the highest grades in recent history--

There is a Heisman winner, 2 national champoinship winners and another QB (Cutler) played with a terrible school against the toughest Defensive Comp in the country who has a crazy arm, had great workouts and drills. I know D Brick and Williams are good, but don't be surprised if they talk about QB's when they have the credentials that this class offers. Any one of these 3 top QB's would have been the number one pick last year.

where am I wrong? that was a Herm f-up
maybe the rest I wrong(I am drunk) my old boss had a retirement party
I probably posted this before(see kids dont drink and post)

I have been pissed about espn for yrs, but their USC top 10 of all time team really put me over the top. why? cause most of the teams they ranked were the last 20 yrs. real old timers would laugh at that where were the teams in the 40's, 50's 60's 70's
    but to herm

the Brien kicks? what were the yardages again????????????
one was a record for Hienz field 47 yrs(vinateri beat it the next week but in the 1st quarter, not the 4th)
2nd their other one was the 41 yrds and dont make me go through the herm F-UP

2 times outs 58 seconds left..............
    Lets go through the plays
lets see 1st and 10. 24 yrd line Martin one up the middle didnt call a timeout
2nd and 10 Martin 1 yrds up the Middle didnt call a time out
3rd DOWN 3rd DOWN WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF backwards play by Pennington and who cares that says it all we are done
so Brien has to make a 41 when a 47 is a record in JANUARY sorry...... we were done

You can't put all the blame on someone who was not even on the field. The point is that Brien should have been able to make one of those two field goals and I put a lot of the blame of that loss on his shoulders.

If youll read my post, youll notice that I made reference to something called 'hype', and setting it aside. Every quarterback in this draft has their share of questions. Go back to my previous post and actually read it if you want to know what they are. Hell, two of them (Young and Cutler) are considered projects.

The bottom line is that the proof is in the pudding. Well see where they get drafted, and how they end up doing as NFL players. And when all is said and done, I very much doubt that this drafts QB class will be anything special.

Kiper just had to mention the Jets taking O'Brien over Marino because of the Test...

    Thanks.

when has Brien been good at 40+ FG's

    thats the coaches fault comeon.......
think about it if we have Nugent try that will he make it? I guess that means cut him if he misses..... the coach should have tried better plays than 2 running plays up the gut and a backwards play

Ok... I'm kinda done argueing this point because I really agree with you on most things. Sure, it was Herms fault for horrific playcalling, but I put just as much blame on Brien because he was the guy on the field doing the kicking. Anyway, my main point was to argue about your thinking that all people in the younger generation are basically idiots and have no idea what they are talking about. So, since we are done with that there is nothing more to say.
