This is kind of a fitting thread. During the game I was screaming run the ball when we were down in there side of the field. Naturally I didn't want Sanchez to cough it up. Well something happened that made me realize that Sanchez is not entirely at fault in his failings. hes not off the hook for stinking up the place against the 9ers, but he needs a good game plan that can evolve when necessary. Here's what happen that made me realize this. I couldn't guess what the play was. I'm sitting there Looking at a run formation and there Sanchez goes dropping back in play action and he was able to connect efficiently and we basically cruised to victory. I have no illusions that the Patriots will be that easy to beat , but good game planning and execution will propel us to a victory.
The Pats are 4th in the NFL against the run, but 28th against the pass. They've let up only 2 rushing TD's this season so far (tied for 3rd with the 49'ers and Eagles), but have allow 15 passing TD's (2nd worst in the NFL behind Washington). Seems logical you would pass on 3rd and 6 against this defense.
Jets aren't gonna consistently convert 3rd and 6. Even if this offense was good they wouldn't consistently convert them. My philosophy for those situations come Sunday .... take shots downfield about 50% of the time. This Pats D is vulnerable in the secondary but the run D is really looking good. Don't think nickel & diming Pats to move down the field in small chunks is gonna work.
I just hope we don't get embarrassed on Sunday because this could get ugly. We don't match up well against teams that can pass and stop the run. This is a bad match up especially without Revis.
Does anyone remember Chad's perfect pooch punt against the Pats on the road in 2006? I think it was in a 4th and 3 situation or something similar, around the Pats 40 yard line. He pinned them inside the 5 if I remember correctly after punting out of the shotgun.
I'd say play-action pass throwing 15ish yards and greater. I think the Patriots will try and cover the areas near the down marker.
yeh didnt he break his foot on that one :breakdance: for real tho i had a good laugh when he dropped the ball and kicked it, chad wasnt very graceful.
Something tells me that Sparano will dial up a quick slant on 3rd and 6, and it will result in yet another pick 6 as Sanchez will again be off target.
Yeah exactly, way the Pats looked late on sunday if I were the Jets Id even play action with a spread empty backfield formation
