I think we would've beat Indy with a healthy team. All of this outscore Manning talk is nonsense. Peyton is human, he aint no stinkin robot. In fact, he's a little over-rated IMO. Brees is just as good as him right now. Brady too. Its still a team game at the end of the day. Indy's offense was eventually going to kill them in the end, it was inevitable. Anytime you pass that much, one incompletion will throw your entire drive off. Funny thing is, for the worse running team in the league they had a decent running game going but went right back to the pass. If anything, this emphasized that we need better CBs to play with Revis. That blitz for the pick 6 was a thing of beauty. Perfect call at the perfect time with perfect execution. Other than Revis, I dont know if our CBs are good or smart enough to jump that route. We need to get 2 CBs and a playmaker WR to take this machine to the next level.
It's been pretty obvious all year: You beat the Colts by keeping Manning on the bench. The Saints did that throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarter, and the Colts had to abandon their rushing game in the 4th quarter which made them more predictable. I don't think it's a good argument to say that we would have beaten the Colts if we were healthy. First of all, almost every team in the league has season-ending injuries to key players every year. You can't just say we would have beaten the Colts if Jenkins and Washington and Greene were around. Second, even if all of our players were healthy and we won the game against the Colts, we would have only won by a few points. If your best effort can only beat a team by a few points, then you're in trouble. The Jets' ultimate goal should be to dominate good teams, not to beat good teams through nail-biters. I agree with Salz that our offense was conservative. Obviously the conservative run-first philosophy was in place because of Rex Ryan's mandate, but I think it's time Rex and Schotty open the playbook. The Jets offense is the weakpoint of the team and we need to score more and take more time off the clock. This will help the defense by giving them rest and by allowing them to play with a lead which forces opposing teams to abandon the run game in the 4th quarter.
