Penalties gotta be cut down and i think they will be but Lito sheppard needs to stop making these stupid ass mistakes. If he doesn't get it worked out it could be a long season for him and our secondary.

Is it me, or has there been a flag thrown on every other deep pass throughout the preseason. Every deep pass is either defensive or offensive pass interference. I thought the Revis call was a joke, that the Shepard call was questionable and the offensive pass interference call on the Lowery pick was a phantom call.

I love the NFL, but flags like these ruin the game. Pass interference needs to become a 15 yard penalty and it must be blatant. What other penalty or foul in sports assumes that the play will be made? It is just a horrible rule that changes games. 40-50 yard penalties on one play for incidential subjective contact?? It's got to stop.

It's actually more complicated than that. In all of Mangini's years the team was low on offensive penalties, but not defensive ones. In 2008 they were 6th fewest on offense, but 10th highest on defense. In 2007 they were second fewest on offense, but 12th highest on defense. In 2006 they were 3rd fewest on offense, but 4th highest on defense. All of those defensive penalties we're seeing are actually not out of character for this team.

The Ravens also had the most defensive penalties in the NFL last year (yet gave up the 3rd fewest points per game), so it might not be so out of character for Ryan, either.

How 'bout we keep it somewhere near the average for the league on defense? Help the rook QB out with some field position.

My guess is Lito will make bad penalties but will come back and make some big INT's. With the amuont of balls coming his way, and with the improved blitz, he should see his share of big moments. Just have to wade through the crappy penalties to get em.

That is the most understood thing by fans and you're 100% correct.

So many people say "he didn't turn around that's why the penalty".
A player facing the QB has the exact same set of rules as a player w/ his back to the QB.

While we'd love to see a CB turn to make a better play on the ball the fact is as long as he doesn't impede or make contact after the ball was thrown he doesn't have to turn his head.

    afa Lito goes,
I actually like the fact that he is constantly around the ball and receiver.
I'd take that 100x over a guy giving a 8 yard cushion and still getting burnt

Looking at the replay, that Scott penalty put a smile on my face. Scott has excitement and intensity and brings a badass take no shit attitude to our defence. I don't care if the opposition think we're crazy assholes like Scott seems to be, you gotta keep excitement and passion on the field.

Revis grabbed the dude's waste with both hands right before they tangled, which is probably what drew the flag.

Lito "Flag" Sheppard needs to fix his shit soon.

I'm ignoring the 3rd one. It was worth seeing scott knock the helmet off a guy that was 2 feet taller than him.

We have to live w/ Scott going crazy, he will get penalties from time to time that cost us- hopefully they don't cost us games but he's a nut.

Looks like we got hoesed on that deal. The guy is an interference magnet. So far, I would grade his pre-season at about a D, and that is being kind.

I might take heat, but I think we are way better off with Lowery. Lowery looks way better than Sheppard. Lito Sheppard flat-out sucks.

Miller minus the return skills thus far. I was wondering if Justin Miller had been smuggled in when we weren't looking and we were all just confused. Revis will be on the field knitting sweaters to break the boredom because you know where the ball is going. Every time. Sheppard or Lowery, it's still bad; although Lowery made me feel a little better last night. And I do mean only a little.

Lowery has shown signs of being able to play the position, even though he got burned a lot last year. I wouldn't give up on him.

As long as he doesn't do it in the red zone during a playoff game, I can live with it.

No, you don't have to turn around, but if you're running with him and your hands are up like butthead just had a crapachino you'll get flagged every time.
