this also, lists like these make no sense unless you account for the avg over the length of the deal is revis underpaid because hes making 7 mill this season? no, because he made 32 mill in the two years prior
David Harris - yes, overpaid. Calvin Pace - yes, overpaid. Santonio Holmes - yes, overpaid. Bart Scott - yes, overpaid. Four overpaid fuckers. Nearly 35M among them. Add cro - and that's 43M, a third of the entire salary cap on 5 guys that (mostly) do not earn their paycheck on the field. Hoping Jets can clear all of them by the end of this season. (Unless Harris restructures, he had better take a hike too.)
there have been plenty of (-) cromartie comments on different threads prior to the season starting, there were plenty of you do NOT know what your talking about retorts . . . . everybody loved him or gave the "you just do get it" response . . .. well last week was a typical cromartie game in my eyes, unable to cover, fouls, holding. . . . not a problem but HE gets caught too many times. He NEEDS to focus and HELP the team.
I love the caption under Cromartie... "Opponents prefer to pick on him instead of Darrelle Revis on the other side." Yeah, no shit.
David Harris is a good linebacker who has beefed up and gotten slower since he signed the big deal. He was a 242-243 lb guy 3 years ago and now weighs 250. The weight gain is par for the course for a 3-4 ILB as he ages. The difference in speed is noticeable over the years. The number of tackles that Harris is in on is also on the decline because when you can't catch somebody it's hard to tackle them. Harris tackles: 2007 (90 in 9 starts/16 games), 2008 (52 in 11starts), 2009 (81 in 16 starts), 2010 (69 in 16 starts), 2011 (65 in 16 starts), 2012 (7 in 2 starts). That's a real drop-off after he gained the weight. Cromartie got paid market as a free agent in 2011. You can argue that he's making 5% more than he should but really in order to lock him up the Jets had to come with an offer that was at least 80% of the top and that's what they did. The salary would be no problem if he was the Jets #1 corner. Holmes is just an extraordinary mistake on the part of the Jets. The compensation is high and guaranteed and Holmes hasn't been worth half what he's making since he signed the deal.
I have always loved Harris but he hasn't fallen off recently..his nick name was teh hitman and he doesn't play like that anymore. He doesn't have the madness he used to have and when he guards TEs I usually tear up before the ball is thrown. I hope to see Demario Davis and Mcintyre get more time especially on passing downs and push scott and harris a little more...I hope this list pisses them off and they start to step it up. our defense should be better than it has been...I believe in Rex and I bet he is going to turn that around.. They better be ready to kick some ass tomorrow ...no excuses
Cro is worth every penny. Harris needs to restructure.... Holmes needs to stay home, or buy a fucking Jugs machine
Harris just seems to play slower than he used too. The first time I noticed it was when he picked off Tom Brady on that little swing pass Brady threw right to him in the playoffs two years ago. He had an open field in front of him and couldn't take the ball for 6 as a couple of guys caught up to him after 30 yards or so and got him down.
Alge Crumpler, of all people, could catch him up from behind (and tackle). That should have prompted warning sign all over to the scouting department.
going to be interesting what they do with Holmes - if people think he offered poor value on this year's salary of $9.25m, he is due to make $12.5m next year.... edit: looking at all the Jets salaries, the only ones that are really bad are Bart and Calvin and both will be gone after this year. Holmes salary is bad, he does nothing to justify that level of pay. The rest are pretty much so-so, we just have relatively very few "bargains", the only really good value (non-rookie) contracts we have are Slauson's and Howard's.
Cro is worth every penny of his contract. Funny that they say teams prefer to pick on him. GO ahead, "pick on him", let's see how that works out..... Harris a very good run stuffer. He is slightly above average in pass coverage, IMO. He should probably restructure at the end of this year. Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, and Santonio Holmes are grossly overpaid.
