Hey now... Watch it with the old stuff... As an aside, later in that same year, Humans walked on the moon AND the Mets won their first WS. Hopefully you youngins will experience that during your lifetimes.. Or something fairly close to it...
George Vescey from the Times perhaps put it better this morning when he wrote.... "I could fulminate about the Jets? being the dark hole of the N.F.L., a haven for aged quarterbacks to work out their angst about retirement, a provider of starter jobs for head coaches like Eric Mangini, who was immediately hired in Cleveland. The Jets are so toxic that Jeff Jagodzinski was fired from Boston College for interviewing for their coaching job ? and he probably isn?t going to get it at that. I could get on my high horse about that fine Jesuit institution?s acting petulantly toward a coach who was merely acting like a coach, trying to slip out the back. Then again, isn?t this the same Boston College that acted just like a big-time sports factory when it deserted the Big East Conference for the warm-weather port of a Southern conference? I believe it is. At best, the Jets are amusing in their perpetual mediocrity and rebuilding. But then I think about the prodigious amounts of money that Giants and Jets fans are being asked to pay for licenses for the right to pay even more enormous sums for tickets ? while this country, this world, is heading into a depression. Are y?all sure you can afford those tickets?
Thanks Joe Willie or we'd have none! I was 11 when they won, little did I know I'd probably croak before the next one...hmy:
Gas is one of the indignities of getting old, miserable is something your born with or develop all on your own and has little to do with age.
What's the most you've ever lost on a coin toss? I'd like to say congrats to all the cocky kids on the board that just realized the Jets were a football team before Favre got here.
We bitch alot. We just feel left out seeing the Pats take all those rings...There are plenty of teams who have never sniffed Super Bowl in many more decades...but we are the SOJ...
I looked for my old Super Bowl III Anniversary thread, but I couldn't find it. I had it up in January 2005 but I somehow remember that it got wiped in a long ago board crash. Lotsa neat old photos. Oh, well.
