I don’t even really think he has top tier talent. Accuracy is a component of arm talent and he’s not very accurate at all. I’m not talking about completion percentage in a vacuum I’m talking about the sheer amount where he puts the ball and the lack of anticipation as to where a receiver is going to be in stride rather than where he is at the time of the throw. I don’t think anyone should be stacked against Josh Allen’s college career as an example of “what can be with raw talent.” Jet fans are obsessed with trying to find players with big arms that maybe can go from being a talented mediocre QB to a league MVP based on that characteristic. Especially because we were in position to draft him and didn’t. Someone show me another example of a player with a transformation from college to the pro’s that’s anywhere near Allen’s? Not to say it can’t happen but I don’t think it ever really has which is why I tend to dismiss the obsession that occurs here with guys who are 6’5” who can throw the ball through a brick wall.
You may feel he’s a 5th/6th round prospect. That’s your prerogative. All I’m saying is that there’s not one draft publication or pundit that has him projected as a day 3 pick as of present day, alleged off field issues and all. I think it’s important to put that simple truth out there for those who depend on this site only for evals.

Better still, if you could round up all the draft experts who have Nico listed anywhere above Round 5, I’d love to know who they are, so I know who not to listen to ever again. At least Shedeur had a couple signature games. Look, I’m not saying Nico will be a 6th-7th Round pick. Anyone spending time making draft predictions before the college season even starts* has out-weirded internet porn. All I’m saying that he’s done nothing spectacular enough so far to put him in Rounds 1-2; although, Nico and the team of nitwits behind him seem to think he has. That toxic combination makes him a low round pick until he proves otherwise. Which he could. And, frankly, I hope he does.

That Tennessee offense is really easy to look good in his college career is very much incomplete at best so the projections are based on his raw talent and from high school and we know that doesn’t always pan out — I’m not rooting for him, I think he’s a total assbag and he will have made more money before he even takes a NFL snap than generations of GOOD NFL players anyway so he’s already “made it” I suppose
I was going to post this as well. Josh Heupel isn’t in the game of prepping QB’s for the NFL. He’s in the game of winning CFB games. However his offense generally makes QB’s look fucking phenomenal because there’s not a ton of thinking, he makes the read from the sidelines for them and there’s always open receivers for big plays. Nico didn’t look very good in that offense. That’s pretty alarming.
If Shedeur was 6-6, ran a 4.6 in the 40 and had a strong arm, I’d bet my life savings he would not have dropped as far as he did considering his college production. When your meaurables aren’t great, it’s easier for GMs to use off field issues as justification to pass. Hard to compare them when their measurables and tools are so far apart.
