Eh. It’s a discussion board. Start an interesting thread on Sunday’s game. I was thinking about moving this into the NCAA forum. Not just yet. We need you grouchy and ready to chew nails through Sunday. On this topic, I like Justin Fields and hope he turns into a long-term, Pro Bowl QB with the Jets. We should still be looking at the future of that position.
I didn’t see Arch having many problems with making reads. He was just having trouble getting the ball with any zip on distances in the 12-20 yardage range. A lot of dirt balls on deep comebacks and such. It’s one game but his arm just looks dead. There’s no life on his throws.
Yes, I said to my buddy "He looks like the opposite of his uncles... no arm but he can run" and maybe the JETS need to draft someone named Hoover..... they all suck.
Nobody forced the Jets to cut the HOF quarterback we had on the roster (who wanted to be here). There is no excitement because the team is bad.
True…but regardless of how anyone feels about AR, good or bad, this really goes back to Woody. Once Woody made the decision to reset and rebuild and hire a rookie GM and a rookie HC, then immediately AR made zero sense Whether it’s Glenn or some other rookie HC, AR was out…he himself said this is likely his last year, and in any case, having a HOF guy like AR and trying to pair him with a rookie HC who is trying to install his culture and his system just doesn’t match up…different agendas
We didn't rebuild. All we did was hire a new GM and coach. We didn't trade away a bunch of older players for draft picks. Or cut salary.
Yeah agreed…I was more thinking along the lines of resetting the team, culture, etc. But sure, it’s not a technical rebuild in that sense, but despite AG saying stuff like “we are trying to win now” kind of stuff, I don’t think many people believe that we have a serious winning team here…I think the consensus opinion is more that it will take a couple of years to develop into a serious playoff contender, depending mostly on if we can find a real QB Personally, I think our roster is good in some spots (RB, OL before the AVT injury) but very thin in others (receiver, edge), but mostly the biggest issue is that we don’t have a legitimate QB…we have to hope that Fields somehow develops what he hasn’t been able to develop in 4 years, led by a defensive rookie HC and a rookie OC…odds are not good If we had a legit QB, I think this roster should be in the playoff hunt as a good QB can cover for a lot, but without a good QB, the roster failings will show (i.e. teams will stack the box and sell out to stop our running game because no one is afraid of Fields throwing to literally one legit WR)
It's a process; it takes some time. What makes anyone think it could all be completed in one off-season?
Actually, the Jets had a guy who had once been a legitimate QB but who has been in decline for five years. That gets people cut. It is certainly not a foundation to build success.
What. yeah they did, they cut the veteran QB saving significantly this next offseason, they also cut costly vets like Devante Adams and CJ Mosley and renegotiated with another costly vet in Lazard, saving a lot. Those moves with a new coach and front office are the very definition of rebuilding
