Going for it at 4th and 8th wasn't a bad call considering the distance for a FG. But why was the last play design was for Fields to survey the field instead of a quick hit?
Most teams run their tightend or a bigger receiver in the slot to the sticks, turn them around and catch the ball in a quick drop back in those situations. It looked like we ran a long developing two man crossing route there.
Lots of plays were long developing. This was atrocious play calling as well by Tanner all game. This reminded me of Hack with Rodgers. Something we needed to get away from. And in the worst possible situation against a team like Denver.
Fields is a human tackling dummy. Fact is he had this problem in Chicago and Pittsburgh. Once his primary receiver is covered he's too slow to pick up the second and third options. He freezes and stands in the pocket in spite of his running ability. Most of your good QB's are getting the ball out in 2.3 seconds. He just doesn't have that ability. If Fields couldn't cut the mustard with the Steelers which has an excellent HC and coaching staff why would Fields be successful here. As far as I'm concerned 3 teams and 3 strikes and you're out.
We are drafting a QB next year - do you want to be able to draft the QB you want or to give up future first rounders to take your second choice at QB? I suggest watching the excellent fly on the wall documentary called Draft Day with the Cleveland Browns GM to learn something about the draft.
I was wondering when you were going to pop up to blame anyone but Fields lol. The play calling wasn’t good. Fields was worse. And he had plenty of time to throw on a bunch of plays he took sacks on my man. That last play was bad though for sure.
I keep expecting to see Rodgers show up on the injury report due to a laughing injury watching what Glenn and company are doing with the Jets.
I feel so bad for these guys. Wilson, Mason, Reynolds, the o-line. Reynolds they throw him the ball he's caught it so far. What more can he do? How good would these guys be if they had a decent OC and a real NFL QB to play with? Glenn said last week it's going to take time. These coaches don't believe in them. To me it looks like we have some offensive weapons here already.
Glenn actually defended the level of urgency and decision making on the final drive of the 1st half. He has no clue.
The only reason you play that drive like that is if you’re going to make a QB change and you just need to desperately get out of the half without a disaster.
The Jets' -10 net passing yards is the worst in a game in Jets history, and worst by any team in 27 years.
Wilson got the QB he wanted. He had a HOF QB and a HOF WR next to him and he pouted like a bitch. Now he can lead the league in receptions and losses.
