What's more likely to happen? Kicking a long field goal when your kicker is 3-3 on the day or converting on 4th and 8 when your offense has 80 total yards? This is one of the worst coached games I've ever seen.
He WAS terrible, but on the other hand, the CS didn't design any plays to help him out. Designed QB runs, trick plays, screens, rollouts. Whatever! He's a an awesome running QB and not a pocket passer. Does the CS do any game planning during the week?!
Yep that was the stupidest coaching move I've ever seen aside from the 2 minute drill play calling to end the first half. This guy is making the past Jets OCs look brilliant.
Chances of making a 62 yard field goal are around 10% Changes of converting a 4th and long are about 20-25% (on average clearly for the Jets its going to be lower). It might have been the wrong call but it wasn't a crazy call.
It’s a crazy call when you have one of the worst quarterbacks in the league who can’t drop back to pass without holding the ball for five seconds and taking a sack. No question in my mind I would rather try 62 yard field goal then try to pick up 8 yards on a passing play to save the game.
Please. Those are average stats. You have to adjust based on the game and the day. Today the chances of converting that for the Jets was 0.0%
After the latest kick to the nuts loss. Now another kick to the nuts. We get to watch Aaron Rodgers the QB Coach Glenn couldn't wait to get rid of in the 1pm time slot. We'd have minimum 2 or 3 wins right now with Aaron Rodgers at QB. Instead the Jets are 0-6 first time in franchise history have to endure watching the Engstrand-Fields led 'offense'. How could they do this to us?
I kept saying to the TV (thank God I didn't travel down to the game) "they are constantly blitzing why don't you call some plays to try to counter it?" 82 total yards when you had 92 yards passing is something pretty special.
This was almost right FG on a fumble recovery, FG on a long return, safety. Only mistake was that our misery was prolonged for the entire game.
I would rather be 0-6 than 2-4. Also the Jets went 0-6 twice before in 1996 (start 0-8) and 2020 (started 0-13)
Yeah but it's the Jets. Nick Folk seems to always make those long ones and the Jets are ACTUALLY like 1% of converting that 4th and 8. I may be wrong, however. According to AI, Folk has never attempted a FG over 60 yards, so maybe there is SOME merit to it. Fields has to absolutely know not to take a sack there, though. If there is nothing, throw the damn ball away.
I disagree with that. Rodgers is awful when pressured. He didn't do shit against Denver last year either. He was doing his best to give us 2 INTs also in the 1st game. We don't have a QB, but Rodgers wasn't and isn't the answer.
It wasn't crazy, but the way the game was going, and given Folk hasn't missed all year and hit from 58 recently with some room to spare, that was definitely a higher % play today.
You do realize there is a chance he goes out on top this season like Elway & Manning did? Meanwhile we're getting the type of QB 'play' we've seen this season. For yet more SOJness.
