Agreed. But here’s the thing…I get our roster is not great. But the talent gap in the NFL is not the Grand Canyon. It’s more subtle. This is bad coaching. We shouldn’t be double digits down going into the 4th quarter every week. We just shouldn’t. This is a bad roster that is NOT being elevated by the coaching staff. To me, I’ve just been watching and a huge indictment on coaching to me is that we are still seeing the same shit we’ve been seeing every week. I was saying this in another thread, but damn, AG…I get you can’t fix everything…but focus on ONE thing and attack it. ONE thing. He can’t. This coaching staff doesn’t know how. We are still fumbling every week. We STILL have no takeaways. We STILL commit too many penalties. We STILL can’t tackle. We STILL can’t defend a screen pass. We STILL can’t execute a screen pass on offense. Take one fucking thing. I acknowledge our talent is not great. But this team plays with little effort, and that IS coaching and culture. And I think as bad as our talent is, we are playing below our talent level. Not a good sign for AG…I knew I didn’t want a rookie DC coach and he’s doing a great fucking job of justifying my position.
This is the perfect example of a game where you can't rely on stats - if you look at the stats then (mostly because of the two garbage time scores) it looks like it was a close run thing - in almost every stat (apart from sacks) there really isn't that much difference between the teams in terms of yards, completion %, etc etc - but when you watched the game it was such a different story the crazy thing is the Cowboys had more penalties for more yards!
That’s been the case for the last couple games as well…Tampa and Miami as well…we’ve just been so down going into the 4th that the defense lets up and we get some garbage time stats
We are getting worse. At least in the other games, we cut it down to one score, and if the defense stepped up, we could actually have a chance. In this one there was no possible chance - true garbage time. We are regressing game after game. Game 1 was the best of the season.
JetUK I agree 100%. I realize Dallas has a very good passing attack. But years ago, people like Stephen A. Smith on the ESPN show First Take said the Jets had a championship defense and all they needed was a competent QB. Ok, Aaron Rodgers was not the answer. But since the firing of Saleh, the defense has never been the same. What happened? One of the most frustrating things about Fields is the number of sacks he takes. You would think with his physical attributes, he would be able to escape and simply throw the ball away if needed. I know the offensive line has issues, but Fields pocket sense is not so great. Hopefully, the team will get better this year. You would like to see some progress to give you hope.
I guess ole JJ got in trouble for flipping you guys off.... lamest excuse by Jerry Jones ever. LOL "[The gesture] was inadvertent on my part because that was right after we made our last touchdown, and we were all excited about it. There wasn't any antagonistic issue or anything like that. I just put up the wrong show on the hand. That was inadvertently done. I'm not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can call it accidental. But it got straightened around pretty quick. I had a chance to look at it. It got straightened out pretty quick, but the intention was 'thumbs up,' and basically pointing at our fans because everybody was jumping up and down excited."
To be fair to Jerry it was worth a shot. MetLife is 75% opposing fans at this point. He probably needed binoculars to spot Jets fans.
