I hear you. But I am still mad. Wish we lost. We are the masters of losing first 10 games of the season and win 2-3 meaningless games in the last 6-7 games. Tired of it personally.
As I predicted prior to the game we barely beat garbage Atlanta team. Didn't think we would need 10 ST points to do it, but we did. Got hosed by he refs all game too. And there is Folk Hero again Overall, another ST win, which will probably cost us a 1st round pick to move up. Nice to see AD having a breakout game, he's looked really good for us even if the stats didn't show it earlier.
The good news is we found some players we can really win with…Fashanu, Membou, Metchie, AD Mitchell, and obviously GW, Mason Taylor and Breece. bad news, we need to trade up if we want a QB.
Membou had a couple of false starts, need to clean this up. Metchie with two drops, including a soft would be TD pass, that was a really bad drop, leaving 4 on the board. We really need to get Breece and Taylor involved more in the passing game. Cousins played like shit, mostly screen passes and YAC and their offense was more productive than ours.
3 drops and one of them was a would be 1st down that was a gimme. Rough day for him. Membou was getting owned by Floyd.
Wah wah wah How has any NFL team ever built a championship roster without the first overall pick?! Fun game albeit frustrating. The defense needs a complete reset at LB and most importantly DC. Falcons did the same thing all game long and it worked all game long. They barely had to do anything because we let them take exactly what they wanted. I was in a box for this game and had a perfect view. Basically the all-22. AD is open alllll dayyyy loooong thank god the QB finally figured it out. If he can stay in it mentally then we absolutely have a legit WR2. Tough one from Metchie but those happen from guys that aren’t stars. Still feel very good about those two guys. Theres 0 doubt this team plays hard for their coach. This roster is so bad, it’s incredible we’re in games let alone winning them.
The franchise needs to learn how to win 10+ games a season or it is utterly pointless. Nobody likes cheering us to defeat but when you are 2-9, wins are only killing you.
It's true, but you will never convince people that don't want to be convinced. Even Joe Benigno (who I love and who I think is the greatest living Jets fan) gets this wrong. He'd rather have a meaningless win and Zach Wilson than a loss in Week 17 and Trevor Lawrence. He'd rather have a meaningless win and give up three second round picks and swap first round picks and have Sam Darnold, than just lose in Week 17 and draft Sam Darnold without having to trade for him.
No, what you’ll never do is convince people that they should piss and moan because a bunch of pro athletes tried and won a game.
And even these wins mostly by the special teams. AD could have had the day he did and if not for another remarkable ST performance again we could have been in a better position to actually give him a QB to feed next year. Instead, the Saints, Raiders, and Cleveland are all ahead of us now and they need a QB as well.
The Trevor Lawrence experience hasn’t exactly been great. Dreadful day for Metchie. I think he’ll be ok though. Membou did not have a good day either.
There will be no QB drafted in the next draft, well not in the 1st round, it is now far too costly to move up and as you say they may well need QB's ahead of us.
So in the future, any good team that gets big special teams plays should have an asterisk next to the win? I just cannot for the life of me find a way to get upset about something that matters very little to most teams that end up being good in the NFL.
Well said. I'm glad they won today. We've seen the team fold in situations like that at the end of games more times than I can count over the past decade-plus. Nice to see them actually pull one of these out for a change.
Well come on now, it's been hell of a lot better than ours. And still is to this day, check their divisional standings. I am happy AD busted out today, that was the positive. But he needs a QB next year, we all do, and if Atlanta's punt returner doesn't fuck up an easy catch, we still have AD performance, but would be closer to likes of Dante Moore... As @Jets79 said before, it's just a matter of logic vs emotion. I am on the side of logic, but completely understand the oppositive point of view as well.
The Trevor Lawrence experience is arguably worse than the Zach Wilson experience. We moved on. They paid Lawrence record money and they’re going nowhere. Yea of course I’d rather have the Jags last 5 years as opposed to ours but that’s a low bar and a really bad justification for whining about wins and pretending it’s logical while anyone who disagrees is just being emotional.
I bet it would take 5 min to find a post of you bitching about coaching, penalties, the players etc causing losses while now you are bitching about winning.
Nobody tells you to get upset though. You are the one who is imposing your point of view on the others. Celebrate, enjoy and prepare to spend an extra 1st on a trade up. It's all good, no need to be pissy with these who prefer a better pick at this point.
I think he is only saying if it wasn't for some special teams special plays, we would have got the loss that most of us wanted for the draft and what he wants to get Mendoza. I very much doubt he is actually upset that the Jets have a promising special teams unit. Sometimes it just isn't that deep.
