I didn't say the system is trash, I said the jury is still out. But so far the output is trash with both QBs. I do want to see more, but it needs to improve for us to have confidence it works. I also don't want to MILF it, but I recall MILF had a lot more success with QBs other than Zach before OL completely deteriorated. I am not seeing this now, at least not yet.
Perception is funny. If Breece doesn’t fumble and that goes for 7 we’re probably talking about how Engstrand called a fantastic drive and kept us in the game. Which, by the way, Im almost confident at this point that Engstrand didn’t think Fields could complete a screen pass
The mission is pretty clear dude. Keep the opposing off the field and don’t turn the ball over. Make sure the Jets D is rested. I think the play design and system is good. The play calling leaves a lot to be desired but I think some of the shitty 3rd and 8 runs are called to line up with the burn clock philosophy. For better or worse I don’t ding the OC there.
We covered this already during Dallas game. We are getting the same output now as before with Fields. Again, not saying Tanner sucks or that Fields is better than Tyrod (he is not), just that I want to see us produce more eventually so that there is come confidence level on Tanner that I simply currently so not have. This is not the same situation as MILF, at least not yet. I hope it will be soon, because I know AG is not going anywhere. But we are not there yet.
Just watched this game…to be honest it was closer than the score indicates and closer than I thought it would be. The defense hung tough for the first half but I just knew we’d give up the TD coming out of the half, because Jets. Still, we hung in on D until a few penalties crushed us. And by the way, there were a couple real ticky-tack PI calls against us, and the refs fucked us HARD with that substitution…that is complete bullshit let’s hand the Ravens a TD right there. On O, Breece…man oh man…he balls out and then fumbles at the worst possible time. Unbelievable. I liked how Metchie showed up…if he can keep it up it would be nice…can see him as WR3 or possible WR2 next year if we get better QB play. Mitchell showed a bit as well but not as much. But would be nice if both can become good depth guys. Better to see Tyrod back there at least we can complete some big boy passes, but he just sucks at the deep ball … seems like every deep ball is either way off target or picked off. He is what he is…a mediocre backup, and sad but even still he’s an upgrade from Fields. I echo Borat though…different QB, and same putrid offense anyway…we didn’t put up points. AG, ugh…again, I just see so much crap with him…some of his decisions are just mind-numbingly terrible. Like WTF terrible. I wish we had hired a better HC. I just don’t think he’s the guy, but we’ll have to sit here and see if he can learn. The team hung tough so maybe that’s a sign that they are playing hard for him, I don’t know. I expected a loss, I got a loss. It was actually closer than I thought it would be, so I’m just consoling myself with the draft position… Life of a Jets fan…
I don't know man, I just don't. Why did we not throw a single screen pass to Breece in the 1st half? Why is he not on the field during that retarded 4th and 2 call? I hope you are right, I just don't have any confidence in Tanner or the entire CS for that matter. I do hope at least offensively they will do better going forward. Basically I would prefer to tank with defense and then get rid of Wilks. They seem to be taking turns at the moment (or both not producing) with AG seemingly tanking on purpose, which I would be fine with, but I know he is not. Hopefully like you said the offensive system is sound, but I personally haven't seen enough yet to know either way.
I have seen very little from Glenn that makes me go back on my initial issues with this hire. Very little. I figure we’re stuck with him because Woody is a fucking moron, but honestly, if by some chance Woody decided to move on and get an offensive guy like McCarthy I would have ZERO issue with it
Everyone keeps talking about how awful AG was so clearly there’s gotta be something more than the 4th down decision right? I’m all ears.
Yes--this team has very little talent. Many of the guys on the jets are players unwanted by their original teams.
The fourth down decision at the start of the third quarter was the deciding factor? I swear to god AG insulted some of your guys family members.
Yeah it doesn’t make any sense. They acknowledge we have little talent but also rip Glenn like he’s the worst coach ever if he was the worst coach ever with this practice squad level roster we’d be getting crushed every week. The jets actually don’t get crushed anymore, and hung tough today on the road today against a far more talented team
In the first half, I can’t remember which drive specifically but Mitchell torched his man deep, a better QB puts 6 points on the board. this is what the staff is dealing with
The league is also plagued by coaches making dog shit over-aggressive decisions on fourth down. It happens literally dozens of times every week. The Lions lost to the Eagles last week going 0/5 on 4th down in a one score game with several in FG range. The 4th and 2 was hardly that bad. The Ravens rammed the ball down the Jets throats to start the 3rd quarter. They tried to extend a drive on a short 2 yards. It didn’t work. AG isn’t the worst decision maker in the league for going for that cmon now.
That was a huge turning point, but the larger one is that we are 2-9 and the season was effectively over in September. And we should be happy with this HC unless he insulted our family members? Is he related to some of you guys in any way?
It was kind of our only chance there. Baltimore was sluggish all game but had just scored to take the lead. They are the best in the game at playing with a lead so you needed to get points back quickly
I remember that play. That was not an easy pass though every decent QB makes all the time. We should be able to overcame not hitting one long bomb and do better. The offense played like shit today. Taylor has been considered a good back-up - he was brought in specifically to address the situation when Rodgers went down and we had no good back-up. Let's stop with the excuses. The offense needs to do better, period. I get it that it might take a few games, but before the season is over I want to see more.
In a season where it was really really easy to be down on this staff, they’ve turned it around the last month or so. Yet the level of nitpicking and complaining is at an all time high. Isn’t it easier and more enjoyable to just be realistic? I don’t get it.
You also thought this roster was just as good as last years so I don’t think a conversation about the teams record is gonna bear any fruit here.
I still think we could match last year's win total of 5. Last year this team had way more talent on the roster I think people just wrote Glenn off and they gotta stick to their undying internet opinions haha
