What makes you say Jets don’t need LBs, they have Williams and Sherwood, they cut Mosely, who are the other LBs that are solid starters?

It’s definitely a position of need and it should be addressed a lot higher in draft. The other thing we don’t know is how the defensive scheme is going to change under Glenn and Wilks.

Francisco has been a tackling machine his last two years and he has the natural strength of a LB and not a converted safety trying to play LB.

The Jets signed a FA defensive tackle and there is still UDFA. Show some patience and see how everything unfolds.

    Sky isn’t always falling.

Jets trade up for Miami edge. Swap our fifth for a 6th next year. Baron kinda has a JFM vibe. Moved inside at times in pass situations

Traded up 10 spots to the end of the 5th to select Miami ED Tyler Barron. The cost was to swap 5th next year with Baltimore 6th. The draft is over for the Jets looks like.

Our draft is over and we chose to focus on depth from the third round on. Pretty hard to get excited about anything after Taylor. Pray we have a move or two on the horizon or we’re looking at a repeat of Chaz Schillens and David Clowney at WR and we’re going to be even worse against the run.

Old guy again, will be 24 soon, but pretty good pressure rate at 19% and a good run defender too. Produced well for both TN and Miami. Decent pick. Might actually be day 1 starter for us, believe it or not.

Still baffling why no DTs at all in this draft?

Something tells me our D will be pretty blitz heavy

When I listen to the calls from the Jets draft rooms seems to me the position coaches know the players pretty damned well, and have talked to them at length pebore along with the video evaluations.

I don’t really know where you’re getting the projection thing from but you’re really over the top with being upset about what some random draft site says the projection is.

First draft over and after first two picks I have no clue what the vision is but let’s see how things play out

Pick one. He wasn’t even on some draft guides that have the top 500 players. If you can’t see how it’s frustrating to take a guy that some people don’t even think would be drafted in the fifth round while we still have two total competent pass catchers and no run stuffers, I don’t know. Hoping for the best but that’s gotten me nowhere the last 15 years with this team. Really the last 30 years.

The only thing I don't really understand is why we did not get a DT in this draft, since it was deep there. But other than that, I think we can see the vision. Top two premier picks were used to address offense, trenches and some passing. 4th rounder WR - the idea is to stretch the defense, like a poor man's Jamison Williams. Now, we may disagree whether Smith is the guy, but the vision there is clear. In addition to starting RT and TE, we also got starting Safety and possibly starting DE even. LB and secondary depth were much needed as well. Who were our back-up safeties and corners and LBs? We drafted 1 DB back-up and 1 LB backup, both were needed.

Really the only big need that we did not address is DT. And that is frankly surprising, but there is still UDFAs and FA next waive ahead. Overall I don't think the draft was that bad, but of course it all depends whether the guys we picked hit or not, which we will not know for a while. Now we need to focus on next FA waive and get some DTs.

    More like a C- to a D. I liked the first pick.

I wouldn’t call this draft a failure or even poor. The biggest head scratcher is why no DT and why did we draft so high a WR who can’t do the thing the position was created to do.

From an egotistical layman’s standpoint it does bother me that all of the DTs that I felt would’ve been a good fit went to our divisional rivals and the Giants. As a long time jets fan I know if they do anything in their careers it will be to make us miserable in legendary fashion at least once.

They intentionally go to commercials everytime the Jets are about to pick. They should just show the South Park clip of Officer Barbrady "Nothing to see here, move along..."
