I'm not predicting it, but given the "cryptic" comments about AVT by Douglas lately, maybe AVT gets traded tonight or tomorrow and nets them a 2nd rounder.
The moment I realized they were on the clock I knew they would take him. Al Davis is still flipping off the Jets with a skeleton finger.
I have visions of Al Davis and Don Shula sitting in the middle of a bunch of burning flames, laughing their shit-filled pants off.
Anyone else getting Dbrick vibes from Olu? Long arms, almost lean for 300+ lb guy so has room to grow. I think he let up zero sacks all college if I remember correct? Also liked that he seems mild mannered and spent draft with family who all seem close. Might be getting a solid high character long term play at LT, with great mentors to learn from. Def Dbrick vibes. Let’s hope.
The QB is unproven, can’t run and will likely end up sucking despite being able to capably run a NFL offense… but that’s a very interesting offense. Can they hide the QB with smashmouth football? Two tightend set(3 TIGHTEND SETS?!?) and two good exterior playmakers? I like the move by the Raiders and the mentality of the head coach. They will forever have a good defense as long as Crosby’s on the field.
Please I’m trying to be positive about JD having a vision for once that would flat out ruin it. AVT needs the fifth round option. Let’s finally build a consistent line.
Know my favorite part of the draft? When they flash to a team’s draft room right after their pick is called and show 20 guys in suits applauding the pick they just made. Just once I’d like to see them to cut away to a draft room where three guys in sweatpants are sitting in Barcaloungers looking around aimlessly and shrugging their shoulders.
I like AVT, but his injury history is a major red flag. Whether it's due to them playing him out of position, or playing on that shitty turf, or a combination, the fact is he's trying to come back from two major injuries. If Douglas gets a offered a 2nd for him he'd have to seriously consider it.
I’m so torn. I absolutely love Brock Bowers and wish him nothing but success. Except, my instinct is to want to see him fail so I’m not sucking on a tailpipe a year from now. I’ll grapple with this paradox for a good long while.
Completely disagree. AVT might be a top 3 OG and still young enough to come back from injury. Worth a 1 yr extension to find out. You don’t trade a guy like that away for a 2nd with another cheap year of contract ahead.
I actually like the pick for Vegas less then i'd of liked it for us. Especially coming off last year and having already made a similar type of player investment bet in Michael Mayer. That had a halfway "all the QB are gone" panicky pick feel to me.
They just showed the Rams draft room, and they're all in casual clothes, not a suit or tie to be seen. It's been 8 years since they've had a 1st round pick. Maybe they forgot how to dress. LOL
