Sabo: First play of #Jets teams is a banger (as the kids say). Aaron Rodgers finds Garrett Wilson for 50+ (sideline), 1v1 against Reed. PA to pounce on first down D aggressiveness, Lazard was locked up by Sauce on the other side (another vertical but not direct, so Sauce had to stay disciplined and did). Bottom line: It was a clear shot play out of the gate. Next few reps all stay on the ground (Breece and Braelon).
Rosenblatt: John Simpson was just called for a false start and was pulled off the field for Xavier Newman. #Jets Allen Lazard with a nice catch at the sideline. His hot start continues #Jets Tarik Cohen was about to run into a pile of defenders then cut back in the opposite direction for a big gain. He’s still got some burst. #Jets
Faria: You’re seeing a really short leash for offensive players who make mistakes. Yesterday Jeremy Ruckert and Carter Warren were pulled off for jumping early. Today it’s John Simpson. Different atmosphere in these practices. #Jets
Hughes: Tarik Cohen with a very impressive run with the second unit. Bottled up on the right, so he juked left and broke free. He might not have same speed, but still very agile. Interested to see him in new KR game #Jets
Sabo: Ruckert getting some first-team love in 11 pers. Used as an extra pass-pro body on a completion to Lazard (sideline, 5-stepper, in rhythm). Isaiah Davis is the first to touch the rock with Tyrod running the show. Others in the mix here include Olu, Cohen, Irv, Kuntz. Braelon also in the rotation. And btw, Tarik can still plant and get going in a hurry. Another callout is Takk McKinley’s discipline on a play attempting to get him to crash. He didn’t, stayed him, made life tough for Tyrod on completion to Kuntz.
Faria: Will McDonald set the edge really well on a run to the outside from Tarik Cohen. The crowd got excited because Cohen cut back for a big gain but we aren’t in pads so its safe to say Cohen would’ve been brought down. #Jets Takk McKinley would’ve just had a sack in 11 on 11 work. #Jets Back to back plays where McKinley would’ve had a sack. He’s been excellent to start today. #Jets Izzy Abanikanda sighting! Nice big run up the middle for the Pitt product. #Jets
Rosenblatt: Takk McKinley with back to back sacks against Tyrod Taylor, who held onto the ball a bit too long. McKinley beat Austin Deculus. #Jets
Faria: Aaron Rodgers starts 7-on7 work with a big completion to Jeremy Ruckert. Fit one in over C.J. Mosley. #Jets
Rosenblatt: In 7-on-7, no one was open so Aaron Rodgers bought time moving outside of the pocket. He spotted Breece Hall, and hit him at the sideline. Hall dragged his feet to stay in bounds. Good play. #Jets Faria: Great diving catch along the sideline by Breece Hall but the #Jets secondary should get credit there too. Completely blanketed all routes on the play in 7-v-7.
Pokrass: 7-on-7s start with Rodgers hitting Ruckert on an in-breaker across the middle of the field. Goes for a good gain. He then hits Breece Hall on a check down for a short gain. Rodgers then finds Hall again for a nice pitch and catch down the sideline. Might’ve been a sack or pressure in a real game, but a nice play regardless. After finding Lazard on a quick out route, Rodgers JUST misses Wilson on what would’ve been a long touchdown. Great coverage from Reed on the play.
Hughes: Aaron Rodgers & Garrett Wilson nearly connect again on a would-be, 55-yard TD in 7on7. Beautiful throw. Looked like DJ Reed interfered with Wilson. No refs today throw flag (it would have been one) #Jets
Rosenblatt: Aaron Rodgers just lobbed the ball up waaaay up in the sky for a deep ball to Garrett Wilson. Couldn’t come down with it, though there might’ve been some interference.
Pokrass: After a Braelon Allen catch(he continues to impress in the passing game), Tyrod Taylor finds Malik Taylor on a long pass down the sideline. Nice placement from the QB and an even better catch from Taylor over Echols. #Jets
@TalkJetsRadio: Corley Gipson Cohen and Codrington returning punts. Corley muffed first attempt, then sent to gunner drills
