if he doesn’t know any routes he’s not going to play. It sounds like he is a big work in progress it’s kind of a shame because a good player like Gipson or Malik Taylor is going to be cut so Corley can have a roster spot, but doesn’t play
Rosenblatt: An Aaron Rodgers pass just hit Allen Lazard in the hands, went into the air and was intercepted by Chuck Clark. First pass of team drills today. #Jets Braelon Allen with a nice run on a handoff from Tyrod Taylor. Used his blockers and cut away from traffic. #Jets Jeremy Ruckert just limped off the field. #Jets Jets offense has been a little sloppy today. Ruckert is back. All good. Another bad snap to Aaron Rodgers. He is not happy. Aaron Rodgers followed it up with a pass over Malik Taylor’s head. Rodgers hasn’t been particularly accurate today either.
Sabo: First play of #Jets 11v11 teams is a nice looking Breece rush with Ruckert playing a key part in the scheme. Did his job nicely. Second play is a Clark INT. Ball wasn’t perfect (high), but it didn’t get on the WR quick enough to excuse it. Lazard with the tough drop, pops in air into Clark’s arms. Later, Leki with the penetration (great get-off) to beat Leki (potential TFL on Braelon). If I’m Nick Bawden, I’m doing everything I can to get back as quick as possible. He still has a ways to go, but there might be something there with Lincoln Sefcik as a TE/FB/H-back. #Jets Again, a long way to go, as Bawden’s still the clear guy, but it’s something to monitor for sure. And yes, this is the first full-padded practice (for those wondering). #Jets 11v11s: Rodgers finds Conklin on a common TE path (quick concept), then finds Garrett in space, another quick one while understanding the perfect concept was called against that coverage. Big RAC potential. Malachi Corley gets into the mix on a designed one (Tyrod). Tarik also snags one from Tyrod. Nice little action by Peasley on a completion to Irv, Very quick, but the QB understood what he was looking at pre-snap. After a bad/high shotgun snap (Tippmann), Aaron Rodgers goes down after taking the under-center snap (the dreaded “OL stepping on the QB’s foot” play). AR gets up HOT, guilty frustrated, as hey, that’s close to the Achilles. Couldn’t tell if it was the center or LG whose foot was the culprit (Tippman or Simpson, I assume). I share then misfires uncharacteristically to Malik on the nexts play. Offense is hurting right now. #Jets Rodgers is clapping after that last positive play, seemingly wanting to get his offense in the groove here, get some positive vibes. AR hit GW on a 1v1 route vs Reed. Great route, getting Reed to turn. Next play, another bad snap from Tippmann (flutters high), AR throws it away (Ruckert). Then, a pattern hits home as AR uncharacteristically misfire badly. Tough day for the offense in the fundamental sense (killing themselves). Something retesting happens, Aaron Rodgers becomes frustrated, and then AR compounds it was just the next play. #Jets Tippmann is now working on shotgun snaps off the side, with the second team on the field.
Hughes: Another high snap from Tippmann. Next play a missed easy one over the middle to Malik Taylor. Rodgers was fuming after that. Sloppiness from offense not making the QB happy #Jets
Sabo: Get off the tracks when the train’s coming through: Braelon hits it hard downfield, well blocked concept, and he finishes it with a truck or stiff arm or whatever against Tony Adams, as the sideline and crowd let out a collective, “Ohhhh.” Not totally sure how it finished (my angle), but Braelon did something well. #Jets Rosenblatt: Braelon Allen just used the truck stick on a would-be tackler.
Cimini: Rodgers throws his first pick in camp — but not his fault. Perfect pass over the middle goes off Lazard’s hands and right to Clark. #Jets Rodgers is hot. He falls to the ground after someone (Tippmann or Simpson) steps on his foot on the QB-center exchange. #Jets He’s not hurt, just pissed. Not a crisp day for the offense. Sacks, dropped pass, overall sloppiness. #Jets Another bad series for the offense. Another high shot gun snap from Tippmann, who’s had a bunch in camp. Series ends with a wobbly pass off Taylor’s hands. Haven’t seen Rodgers this upset in a while. #Jets Tippmann working on shotgun snaps off to the side with a coach. And still snapping high. Yippmann? #Jets
Hughes: Very physical run down the field by Braelon Allen. His best day since I’ve been here. Trucked a defender and stiff armed another. @Willpa11 down there closer to fill in blanks on what players #Jets
A lot of guys were very high on this pick--they're not GM's and their opinion is fine. But JD is the one who traded up for this pick and it should be under discussion if it was a good use of resources--maybe too early tho.
Costello: Rodgers pass goes off Lazard’s hands to Chuck Clark for the pick. Summer of Lazard is paused. The Jets defense is winning the day. Offense with a tough series. High snap followed by a lineman stepping on Rodgers foot and tripping him and then an incompletion. Rodgers is not happy with this practice. He is visibly upset. Tippmann now working on shotgun snaps on the side after a number of bad snaps
Will Parkinson (@Willpa11): Jamien Sherwood is flying around on defense, will be valuable in that 3rd LB spot behind Mosley and Quincy Chuck Clark is going to be a really nice chess piece for this Jets defense, starts practice off with an int, can play multiple spots Braelon Allen running through multiple arm tackles for a massive gain..the rookie has been extremely impressive since being drafted Rodger getting the ball out of his hands quick to Conklin for an easy 8-10 yards… seen it a ton already in camp, would buy stock in #83 Garrett Wilson getting some work in the slot in practice… been talked about a lot but would like to see the Jets get him so advantageous matchups inside Snaps have been an issue today for Joe Tippman. Rodgers to Wilson for nice gain… these 2 are beyond locked in Jeremy Ruckert is back in team drills Back to back nice plays from Zaire Barnes and Jarrick Bernard-Converse, a TFL then a PBU Lot of pre snap motion from the Jets… way more than a year ago this time in camp… good sign imo Aaron Rodgers breaks the pocket and picks up a first down with his legs in move the chains period Extremely impressive run… massive dude running with zero fear and all aggression Moving well in the pocket as well as buying time with his legs when needed… found Conklin after buying some time
Sabo: Rodgers finds Corley on a quick one in the red zone, but Brandon Codrington played it nicely for the quick tackle, inside-out, using the sideline to his advantage (great angle/pursuit). #Jets
Rosenblatt: The #Jets offense had a rough go in the first padded practice of camp. I had Aaron Rodgers completing 8 of 13 passes. Rodgers threw a pick (deflected off Allen Lazard’s hands, a bad drop) and was sacked at least three times. A couple bad snaps. Had his foot stepped on during a handoff and he was pissed. His best pass was a sideline throw to Garrett Wilson. Otherwise was an unproductive day for the starting offense.
Hughes: Bad day for offense continues as they falter in DTF drill in red zone. More bad snaps, protection breakdowns & guys not getting open. Defense very clearly winning today. #Jets
Sabo: Braden McGregor gets to the QB to end practice, as his defensive teammates rally around him with excitement. Offense is forced to do pushups to close out the #Jets’ first full-pad session of the summer.
Sabo: The #Jets practice is over, but Joe Tippmann is still on the field, working on snaps (with Latham helping out as the DT with the bag). Listen, Tippmann will be fine. He’s a big boy, and it’s one of those mental games a center has to deal with at times.
Too early? Ya think?? Lol. It's July 28th. Today is LITERALLY the first padded practice of his career. Time will tell, for sure. But this idea that he has to "redshirt" or the pick was a waste odds completely asinine. I liked the pick at the time. Kid has potential to be a good slot receiver down the road and can definitely contribute on designed plays early. Ss
