I'm a grown man, I don't measure things in internet W's and L's. All I know is professional coaches that have won Super Bowls and players that have won Super Bowls with them are playing in preseason games so I'm not going to join in with the fan whining about it on the internet.
To be fair, plenty of teams have been running their starters, including people like Mahomes.. If you're THAT scared of injury that you don't play any good starters at all, then you are in the wrong sport. The first team could very much benefit playing some live snaps together before the season starts. Chances of Arod going down from a preseason series or 2 is miniscule.
The reward in playing Saturday is giving the first team their sole opportunity to experience working together unrestricted as a unit at full speed. I remember how much heat the Jets got just a few seasons ago for not having their offensive unit play together at all before the season started - the results were quite apparent. There's a risk/reward equation for everything the team does; in this case many people believe the reward outweighs the risk.
Look who else is playing this weekend. Jon Scott on X: "Sean McDermott says Josh Allen and starters will play in preseason finale Saturday in Chicago. McD won’t say how long they’ll play. #Bills" / X (twitter.com)
The Bills are smart for getting Allen and the starters some work. Get some work in and get used to playing again. The Jets defense might be the best one they face all year so maybe they want some playing time before facing the Jets. Shake off any rust and that type of stuff.
