Lawson may actually be alright with it. Here he's probably going to get buried on the depth chart as the season progresses; in New Orleans, he would be starting for a team that has the best odds of winning their division. Not sure about the scheme; if we want an OL who we know is a scheme fit, that would be Yosh Nijman of the Packers. But Hurst is a better player; Nijman is more of a third tackle than a true starter.
The most value Huff would fetch right now as far as draft pick value would probably be a 4th round pick ….. I would think his best value in a trade would be in exchange for a veteran OT or part of a trade for a higher end OL. But the Jets really like Huff in those pass rush situations so I imagine JD is first going to scour the waiver wire for veteran OL help cutdown day before proposing trades. You are right though - Huff is a pending FA and it’s probably going to be hard to resign him to such a loaded position. I wonder what tender he would fetch if he leaves as a FA.
I agree that trading one of our Edges, or specifically Huff would only happen after JD had first scoured the waiver wire, and then only in desperation. I would be shocked if they traded Huff, although in one way he has more trade value than Lawson. I think they're both getting paid about the same amount this year. The problem with Huff is that he will be a FA, so any team that traded for him would have to sign him to a contract extension, and he might not be willing to do that. We might get more than a 4th round pick since he has a 2nd round tender, but that would have to be from a contending team that lost one of its Edge rushers, and would need to be an NFC team. I really hope that we don't trade Huff or Lawson. I love the idea of having great depth where we can always throw fresh pass rusher at opposing QBs.
Okay, WMD works. Naming stuff like the Dline doesn't usually work out too well in recent years aside from Revis Island.... but did it work out?
While I agree that Weapon (singular) of Mass Destruction is better than Will the Thrill, I thought it was intended as plural for the WHOLE DL Weapons of Mass Destruction. I like it better as a name for the DL than just McDonald.
I’m not too big on names but Revis Island was pretty appropriate. Nothing will ever top the Sack Exchange.
I like that too... All I know is that a silhouette of Clemons clutching a barbed wire bat should be the logo...
Yeah I agree with that. I liked the fact that Hackett had some easy throws, and some screens which I felt wasn’t apart of the gameplan a lot last season. Zach also seemed to love to throw the deep in near the seams to a WR too (the type concept escapes me at 5:30 am) but it was nice to see Zach take what the defense gives him then go over the top for his WR to make a play when on one on one situations.
