what is the prupose of having two game threads? one for during and the other for the before and after?
They looked good today. I was really impressed with Will McDonald. Dude Is going to be a stud I think.
My gut says hold off on the hype but the way he was producing leads me to believe he’s the real deal. He’s insanely athletic and technically sound. Him and Tippman very much looked the part today.
Good for Wilson. Needs these confidence boosters. But plant your damn feet when you throw instead of jumping backwards as you throw. That pass looked so weak. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
Really solid preseason performance. McDonald continues to impress. Kudos to the FO for sticking with BPA. The edge rushers as a unit, with good CB play, is going to make this a dangerous D. We have a deep TE group, and it looks like we plan on using them, as well as passing to RBs. I’m still scarred by Gase 11 personnel in every situation, so that’s refreshing. Oline still scares me.
Overall, good progress from everyone who needed to show it from what I could see. It was hard to tell how good they are vs. how poor Carolina played, but they did what they had to do. It looked like they wanted to work on the running game and screens on offense, and the defense looked in regular season form, but again, how much due to the Panthers poor play and the fact it was their first P.S. game and the Jets second. Zach looked good, if not spectacular, but he still needs to work on his accuracy, although that's improved. The OL did well - much better than they've done, and it's good news that Becton played 27 snaps and apparently didn't come out due to injury. Knowing the Jets weren't going to show much more than vanilla plays, they executed well, put points on the boards, and hung a zero on Carolina.
Are you referring to the TD pass? Agreed. He had time, wasn't under any real pressure and could've planted his feet from what I saw. Nice to get the TD, but throwing like that off an unstable platform is what gets him in trouble.
I like the depth on this team. I truly truly think that most of our positions have very solid players. I am more confident with Tony and Amos at S. Alot of promising LB play (would like to see more of Surratt when he's healthier). Even K and P is really solid. The ONLY freaking position that is a hole is OT. CMON JoeD. Get on the phone. We are in so much better shape if we get a solid G or preferably T which at bare minimum gives us more flexibility to move guys around to concoct an average OL.
I’m trying to figure out why the Jets are so low in the ESPN defensive line rankings. That DL performance was dominant.
The jets had more players claimed off waivers on final cut down day last year than any other team. Could be the same this year.
Rookie Zaire Barnes (7 tackles) good showing. A number of rookies (McD, Izzy at RB, et al) did well. Carter looked like his old shifty, slippery self. He and Izzy schemed in space as receiving options was effective. Bam came out of the box well running it.....we don't need Dalvin Cook. Dye, hide him on the PS. Nice pass rush
Just got back from the game, some quick observances from seeing everything live, some of which you guys have covered. 1. This defense is LEGIT. With all the up-and-coming young talent they can dominate for years. The challenge is going to be hanging onto everyone. Some guys will get sucked up in free agency (Huff). Guys like JJ, McDonald, Clemons, will be mainstays for a long time. 2. Tippman will be the starting center before too long; the guy is that good. Pushes people around, recognizes defenses and calls out protections already. Mangold part II incoming 3. Kuntz is a physical freak - don't know if he can be rostered, but he's a much better blocker than I expected considering that wasn't really his role in college. 4. Becton appears to be holding up physically, and improving - can't ask for much more than that. 5. Zach looks more confident. Still a couple of WTF moments and questionable footwork, but overall he held his own.
Yea. It's one of those things where people see the TD and get excited but people miss the poor mechanics. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
Me too. I heard that the game was tonight, but when I went to turn my TV on I discovered that the game was already over and I had missed it. I looked and it's going to be rebroadcast tonight, and for the next few days, so I'll see it. I was able to see every throw that Zach made thanks to whomever posted it on YouTube. He is not where he needs to be, but is showing definite progress. I'll take it.
Only the sixth ever shutout for the Jets in a preseason game covering 63 years lol ….but the third since 2018.
Our DL is going to be pretty damn good Our RBs looked good, the screen game and short roll outs looked good…can’t remember last time we had a good screen game…love to see that Zach looked better than he has…still some bad placement on a few throws but overall was a good performance our rookie LB Barnes was very active too…looked good from just a casual watch
