I think he would have caught that ball though. It was certainly a weaker flag though, if I was a Bills fan I wouldn't be happy with the refs on that.
The funny thing is that on ESPN2 Peyton was urging the Broncos to kick it on third down, so they wouldn't be doing a fire drill field goal on fourth down that could end up with them screwing things up - and then it was Buffalo that ended up screwing it up in all of the confusion. Eli wanted them to do it the way they did, but so Allen wouldn't get the ball back with 20 seconds left, not because Buffalo might screw things up. This is the kind of game that could cost coaches jobs at the end of the season.
they had to scramble onto the field just like the kicking team did and it caught them off guard The team is set but over the course of the game it can change due to injury. The broncos decided to go with the rush route, which I thought was a strange decision but it worked out. Buffalo was caught off guard shuffling personnel. Their team broadcast speculated it was Leonard Floyd who screwed up
Punters count the men on the field with him... the guy behind the line on kick defense should do the same in my opinion. And if it changes due to injuries... wouldn't that put less defenders out there? Whatever... the only football joy I get these days is watching other AFCE teams fuck up.
what I meant by injury is that Floyd may have been unclear whether he needed to stay out there or not. The guy he replaced on the kick rush team came back and ran out there in the chaos before Denver’s kick But I agree, glad Buffalo lost, funny stuff
Yeah, the deep guy should have counted the players and should have ran off the field if he noticed 12
There might not have been enough time to get off in the field in this case - Denver got the kick off in 17 seconds from Wilson's kneel-down, which means he would have only had about 5 - 7 seconds to do it.
It was kind of a genius move by Payton because if they just kicked it on 3rd down they would've given Josh Allen time. they also rushed the kick team on right before the end of the 1st half so they had already done it once
Yup and Mike Westhoff is there as an assistant head coach so they’ve obviously worked on it at a high level with a great coach overseeing it. I fell asleep but was happy to see the Bills lost.
There were a lot of impressive things by the Broncos in that game, it was night and day from the team the Jets played. They looked like a really well coached team last night.
I agree, but even with that, if the Bills hadn't shot themselves in the foot half-a-dozen times, Denver still would have lost by at least 10 points.
Is anyone watching the Lions/Packer game? Hard to believe how quickly the Lions bypassed us. Must be the people running the team vs. the people ruining the team. Guess which team is which..
