Boyle got worse as the game progressed. Not sure if it was the playcalling that was the reason why. Early on, Boyle looked good. Zach is gonna be the #2 but I did see some flashes of '22 Zach last night. Strev has no arm and should be gone by COB today. No need to waste anymore time on him.
I was referring to the coaching staff, not the players. The staff is more concerned with evaluating players than winning a meaningless extra preseason game in the first week of August.
I thought the linebackers looked good. Surratt and Sherwood were very active. Gonna be hard to cut Surratt if he continues to play like that
Some of the comments here are amusing. All I care about is health. Did we suffer any significant injuries? I had the game on but didn't study it. Here are my takes: Echols was being called for penalties. He needs to watch that. Izzy looks like he has great speed when he turned the corner and got to the pylon. Nice! Will McDonald looks like he might be a special player. No one was carted off the field! Yay. One more thing: Klecko gave a good interview.
I could not stop laughing when Klecko was being announced and then stumbled. It's like a sniper took him out from the top of the stadium
Streveler’s 15 minutes are over …. Boyle is 3rd stringer material. Zach did show a little better pocket awareness in his limited time. Collinsworth actually pointed it out. Small victory ….let’s see if he builds on that.
Boyle got worse as the game went on. Early in his shift, he looked pretty solid. I wouldn't say he was "horrendous", but as a #2 or 3 option, the Jets could do worse. Besides, if Boyle or Wilson are on the field, our season is over anyway so it shouldn't be much of a concern.
Agree Cman. I saw some good stuff out of Zach too but some vintage overthrows as well. He does seem more comfortable in the pocket. Game plan was as vanilla as you can get with minimal running outside, no screens no real TE work. Boyle had a couple of quick release passes that were on the money but then he faded into oblivion. To me they all looked a little to careful and tentative. Good Lord they were some God awful calls by the refs. Blatant PI to end the game was not called, but they called Hall on a PI when the Cleveland WR run into him and push him. On a non QB note, Our number one pick looked damned good, albeit against back ups, but boy he can penetrate in a heart beat, both against the QB or the runner.
What I'm getting from this thread is all of our backup QBs suck. And yet, Mike White wasn't worth 4 million dollars. Also, why wasn't Ruckert playing last night?
