Now that we’ve added some OL depth, feels like they go back to the defensive side of the ball for the next pick or two. Some solid S and LB prospects still on the board, would be nice to snag one at 143.
well you also have to count Rodgers, right? Essentially we lost out on a top OT by moving from 13 to 15, we also lost Elijan Moore and our 3rd rounder all to secure Rodgers. We can argue all day long about the cost to land Rodgers...I hated the move down and the condition set for next year's pick, but in the end, we really HAD to get a QB, and Rodgers, even at 39 years old, is still way better than either Carr or Garapolo...Carr is a very good QB, Rodgers is a great QB, and with our conference, it had to be done because we have too many good QBs to face in the playoffs. All that being said, Rodgers is still a gamble. How many years will he play (so far it looks like at least 2 maybe 3?), and how confident are we that he won't fall off a cliff at 40 years old? Definitely gambles. What REALLY hurt was the utter mess that Zach Wilson is...if he had developed into even just an average QB, we'd already have made the playoffs last year. Instead, he is the worst QB in the league and the rest of our team is just too good right now to waste. So the move had to be done. So kind of looking at the draft as we got Rodgers, a good pass rusher, a starting C, and a depth tackle so far...that's not a bad day
Well the Rogers trade is APlus ..I was not counting that lol I was just grading the draft as I see it now
Well, let's not go that far. Dawand Jones and Freeland dropped. They were gone right before our pick (again). Warren didn't drop. This is his spot. Upside is low due to lack of athleticism, and the guy will be 25 before the season is over. But he did play LT against a decent competition and kept his QB upright. I think it is a decent pick, but I would not say he dropped to us or anything like that. In fact we traded out of our original pick after two other Tackles went before us.
Also don't forget gave up the 2023 2nd round pick and probally a 2024 1st round pick, while cap strapping us for 2024. While Jd's brain fart for pick swap cost us a very capable and highly sought Ot.
yup...cost was high no doubt...but if we go deep into the playoffs with a legit superbowl chance for the next two years, gotta say it'll be worth it...
Another Pittsburgh product RB Israel Abanikanda just selected in round 5 https://www.nfl.com/prospects/israel-abanikanda/32004142-4115-9567-2e24-0eab29f6a4b9
I always envied teams that found awesome RB's in later rounds. Hope Israel Abanikanda becomes that guy for the Jets.
I like this a lot. He was one of the guys I mentioned earlier today as a favorite target of mine today. Good size and speed, could beat out MC and Bam as the starter early in the season as Breece gets back up to full speed.
