Bold decision for Texas to go with Scherzer again. If he fails yet again in the postseason (5.22 ERA in his last six postseason starts), I don't see how any team could run him out in the postseason ever again.

Good idea to pull Scherzer before he can do more damage. Rangers up by 6, hope they keep it going.

Rangers complete the bizarre every-home-team-loses series.

Good for the Rangers, it's been a while.

I'll root for them over the NL team that makes it.

They always had a fun team to watch in the 90s. Pudge, Juan Gonzalez, Palmeiro. They have not been good for a while, congrats to the fan base.

I've never heard of this guy Ginkel, but he just painted corners for 5 outs in a row against the Phillies.

    That was impressive to watch.

I suspect that not too many people had a Rangers-Diamondbacks World Series when the postseason started.

I guess Paul Sewald is a late bloomer because absolutely sucked as a Met.

It must be something in his throwing motion because he throws 93 and absolutely blows the ball by all these guys.
I wonder how the MLB feels about this matchup. Obviously they’re two decent sized markets but I imagine when the playoffs started this is one of the last matchups they wanted.

Last time that happened before the other night, Game 7 was Scherzer vs. the Astros, and the Astros lost.

I don’t really understand how the Diamondbacks can go with only three starters? Major league starters only go 5-6 as it is, it’s very silly to try to think they’d be able to eat up an entire World Series game with the entire bullpen. Including the bullpen that they would’ve been using a bunch in game 1-3 given MLB averages.

The Rangers have also handled it strangely. They have 5 starters (Eovaldi, Scherzer, Perez, Dunning and Gray), but they’ve been using Dunning and Gray out of the pen.

Some teams just overthink this stuff and the analytics crap. Smoltz said it perfectly - problem with a bullpen game is counting on getting good outings from 6, 7 or 8 guys total.

It's impossible to count on every single guy to be "on". Crazy movement that has become more and more popular for some reason
