Should be interesting to see Cole and Donaldson together considering all the shit that transpired last year with the sticky stuff.
I'm not so sure. Gary is a well below average MLB catcher. Gio was a fan favorite, I liked him, but the magic was wearing off on him to the point he was a liability at the plate. He declined quite a bit this year. Gio will be missed. Gary GTFO. IKF is on the upward trajectory of his career right now so he may get better. Donaldson, declining, is still a better hitter than gio with near above average OBP, who knows about the catcher I'm not sure. He could very well get flipped. This trade is hard to tell right now, but I like it at face value.
For 255 Million dollars in salary this year, the New York Yankees Have: A HUGE gap in center field TWO Catchers who hit below .200 last year Only two pitchers on their ENTIRE STAFF who pitched more than 100 innings last year (Cole, Green) An ENTIRE TEAM that bats right-handed with the exception of one player (Rizzo) Someone explain to me how Cashman is still employed?
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...-sign-stealing-allegations-made-public-appeal So basically everyone cheats?
I’d imagine we’re looking at a low 90’s win season with a ton of strikeouts on offense. They’ll beat up on the Orioles, Tigers, Royals, Guardians, Rangers, etc. all year while the bullpen gets worn down from overuse due to starting pitching injuries and lose the wild card game.
YET ANOTHER FAILURE FROM CASHMAN as the Yankees fail to sign Aaron Judge before the start of this season. I have zero confidence in Cashman's ability to get a deal done. The Yankees should put Aaron Judge on the trading block immediately.
He turned down 7 for $213. No reason for him not to take that deal. That a very very very fair deal. He's betting on himself to have another monster year and hopefully cash in on $250+.
It's a huge risk for Judge. If he's the MVP and plays out of this world, he still probably won't break 300 million or just barely... But a major injury he can lose hundred of millions. But on the flip side, I think if the Yankees just raised his salary this year to the AAV of the rest of the contract he probably signs it. I think the Yankees are kind of weird risking losing their franchise player over 13-15 million.
Even if he is the MVP, I don't think he hits the 300m number. He is 31 next year, is someone going to give him more than 7 years at age 31? He would need 40m/year to even come close to that. Judge turning this deal down could possibly be as dumb as Conforto turning down 100million from the Mets.
Breaking news… Billy Chrystal offered contract from Gerrit Cole to throw first pitch before every start.
Cole has not lived up to his contract this far. The loss of the sticky stuff has made a difference in his effectiveness.
Did you hear his comments about how the festivities before the game went 4 minutes longer than expected and it put him off his game? lmao
There seems to be a lot of that going around in Yankee land. It's as weak as Cashman blaming the Astros' cheating for the Yankees' World Series drought since 2009.
