The Jets are surpassing everybody's expectations, off to a 4-2 start with good a chance to go 5-2, which is just crazy. It's a shame the Elijah Moore drama has stolen the spotlight. This game thread has a fraction of the posts the Elijah Moore one does. Really unfortunate, but I blame Elijah Moore for that. In addition to the test of keeping momentum, not getting too high on themselves, and playing in a difficult place, now you can add team distractions to the list. It's now all the more impressive if they can win Sunday.
If anything I think the Moore situation further galvanizes this young team. They will want to show that it's a team game and they will do what it takes to win. No one person is above the rest. We will run the ball and spread the ball around in the passing game. Jets win this one 23-9.
Agreed. Worst-case scenario is the offense struggles, we lose, and then we have a couple more tough losses against quality opponents. Last thing we want is Moore saying, "See what happens???" Ugh. Dumb young people are dumb.
The good thing is we beat the Packers last week with 0 contribution from Elijah, which is unfortunately what caused this week’s kerfuffle. Hopefully Braxton and Mims can step up as I think they’ll be the ones to absorb most of Elijah’s reps. Big week for this team. Block out the noise, stay focused, and keep this train rolling.
With Mims and Davis on the field at the same time, it gives us a BIG receiving corp for the first time this season. Compared to both of those guys, Wilson, Moore and Berrios are smurfs. Throw in our TE's and we can actually field a JUMBO package to pass from.
Rypain's only NFL start was against us in 2020 - the Thursday night game where Sam had the 60 yard TD run but we still lost. Two years later he gets his second start, against us again. His stats are 2 TDs, 4 Ints. If we can stop the run we should clean their clocks. I agree with the others that special teams will play a big role.
Huge news for us with Rypien getting the start. This guy threw 3 INTs against us when our secondary was Pierre Desir, Bless Austin, Marcus Maye, and Bradley McDougald. If the D can stop the run and the offense can put up 17+, I think we win this one fairly easily.
Jets have a pretty good record against back-up QB's this season. Plus they owe Ryp a good ass-beating after last year.
I don't know if it's true or not, but facing Baltimore would make some sense fur the Giants. Winkendale knows that team inside and out and was probably easier to prepare for.
Good news for the Jets, but my scars of the past 12 years will always fear the backup QB who had limited reps throughout the week. That being said, expect a win now
i think we need a few more " i can easily see us getting blown out" posts Ryp to start Did the line move? I think we she now be favored very slighty, maybe-2
That’s only a stat and a meaningless one. That 2020 defense was lousy and completely different from this one. Personally I’d rather them face a hobbled Wilson but obviously I would take Rypien over a healthy Wilson. This will still be a tough grind it out game …
