3rd down... The Jet D has to get off the field after 3rd down. I have zero faith in SloJoe being able to put a bunch of points on the board against anyone let alone a Ravens defense that perhaps not the best, is far from the worst. The lower the score, the better the Jets chances are...
Ravens o/u 26.5 This line and the ravens -7 seem very suspect to me. Probably going to hit the over, think it moves later next week
The D looked pretty good against the Giants even though they were playing against the Giants backups. They were swarming and playing hard and hitting hard. They didn't look anything like last year's D.
The problem with the Jets on opening day is when they look good I get excited and then they end up sucking. And when they suck on opening day, they end up sucking the whole season. Lose lose Lately it's been the latter, but I remember they had some good opening days in the past 10 years that gave me false optimism... When Sanchez and Stephen Hill went off on Buffalo, when they rolled the Lions, when they beat the Bucs (thanks Lavonte David) and some others But on to the future! Despite my concerns with the team (QB and defensive scheming primarily), it's quite talented, relatively strong on depth, and young. It'll be a tough opener to I expect a loss and a bad start with this lineup. Then again, I feel the Jets have always done better when little was expected of them - and nobody is expecting much from them especially in the first half of this season. I predict a loss to Baltimore, but a surprisingly close game.
Yeah. I remember when Darnold threw a pick-6 on his 1st ever play from scrimmage and then played great the rest of the game. He was a major tease!
The first four games of the season are a crap shoot. You really do not know what type of team you have until about week 5. You just do not want any major injuries and squeak out at least 2 wins. Remember the Bills losing to the steelers week 1?
There's still no team here. It's individual players doing the best they can and that is never enough to win much in the NFL. I expect the defense to underperform again this season and the offense to perform as well as they're allowed too by the game plans in play. If the Jets run 50% of the time the offense has a chance to be competent this season but it's just a chance.
I popped over the Ravens forum to see what they are saying about this game and the Jets Raven thread was dominated by a Jets fan. He was reassuring the Ravens the Jets are really bad. https://purpleflock.com/threads/5780/page-3
Talent wise Jets are not going to be overmatched as much as in years past. The X factor in most games, especially this one will be CS & QB, Baltimore is as good as they come at these two spots while the Jets are mostly unproven. Saleh needs to get this team ready to play from opening whistle to closing, which did not happen nearly enough last year or this preseason.
Maybe they were ready, but they were just bad. In my opinion, the biggest question marks for the Jets are how well they gel, given all the new players, and how quickly the young players mature.
I think we might look OK on O. The problem is Lamar might break Peterson’s 296 yards in a game record.
