This is so devastating, shocking, and sickening. I don’t even know why they would wait this long. Just cancel the game, already. my heart still sank. And can’t imagine what the players/coaches and officials are going through they play.
So it seems he must’ve had a heart attack. No severe spine, neck or head injury. CPR doesn’t do anything for those in most cases. Hope this kids OK as a person fuck football.
Game is over. All prayers for Damar Hamlin. I wonder how the NFL resolves this. Do they pick up the game where it left off?
Players are undressing and equipment being packed up. No official announcement, but this game is over.
Theyve known the game is over since it happened. They’re just making sure we all keep tuning in to suck up as much advertising money as possible.
No idea but it will be messy. Since they both play Sunday and the playoffs are immediately following this, maybe no contest? Prayers to Hamlin and his family. One of the worst things I’ve seen in sports.
Not really how it works. They'll lose ad revenue. Networks execs are idiots... they aren't evil idiots.
Messy it may be.. but I'm glad the decision to halt the game was made. His Mom & family were in the stands...
I don't think they can no contest it but I dont know what else they can do. The best case scenario would be him being healthy, and they play on Wednesday. But if something worse happens, I actually think the NFL would have to cancel the bye week between the Super Bowl and push this game to wildcard weekend, and give the rest of the league a bye.
Of course they’ll lose ad revenue but they just ran an hour worth of ads when they knew there’s no way this game was continuing for the past 50 minutes. The NFL would’ve called the game as soon as they started administering CPR on the field if they didn’t care about ad revenue.
Something like this can shock priorities back in place for people. Tell your family how much you love them the next chance you get.
I was glad when my kid did not want to be a pitcher I was so afraid of this. And I recommended a device to another parent whose kid was--they bought it. G-d help this young man and may this never happen to anyone ever again.
Hey... I don't know how it works at ESPN... but I do know how it would play out where I work. Upper management would be figuring out the best way to help Damar Hamlin and his family. They run those ads because they have nothing else to broadcast while they get their shit together. It may seem callous... but it's not meant to be.
That may be the case... but it takes time to figure out what to do. And I'm not defending the NFL in the least.
