Maybe it took that long to run it up the chain of command. Troy Vincent is probably the guy to make the decision. Being a sole night game may have been a factor. I agree... it shouldn't have taken that long to make the decision.
Didn't catch the beginning of the game and tuned in a little after 10pm to watch the rest of what should have been one of the games of the year. So sad to see this and I hope that Hamlin turns out to be OK.
Absolutely disgusting that the league had a player dead on the field and wanted to give the players five minutes to regroup and play. Imagine if that happened at someone's place of employment.
This is two months after they watched Tua’s body seize up on the floor and then grab his third concussion in 4 months and go back on the field. The NFL needs to get 100X more serious about player safety or we’re not going to be watching football in a decade.
The players on all teams should go on strike next week to force the NFL to take player safety more seriously. I really mean that.
Actually happened to me years ago. An ad exec had a massive heart attack while we were filming a commercial. After the ambulance took him away (dead) we continued the shoot. Brutal.
The only reason I disagree is because this is a normal football play. He didn’t try to decapitate anyone. It was a complete freak accident. But the NFL really looks awful for not suspending the game immediately.
The NFL will do anything they can do bury those reports that they were gonna make everyone play 5 mins later
I'm not upset about the hit, I'm upset that by wanting to resume the game 5 minutes later, the NFL showed they don't care about the players, only the money. Add to that the ongoing Tua fiasco, and the NFL needs to learn its lesson now so it doesn't put more players in jeopardy and go the way of boxing in the future.
From the way it looked I'm not sure it was a football injury. Looked like he had a stroke or heart attack.
Doctors are saying it's commotio cordis. The hit disrupted his heart rhythm and sent him into cardiac arrest.
8:55pm: Injury occurred 9:18pm: Game temporarily suspended 9:25pm: Ambulance left stadium 10:01pm: Game officially postponed
Too late. It was too late the first time the five minute announcement was made. I could read it in the faces of players and coaches that the game was not going forward and the Bills may have begun packing up their equipment before the league made the official decision, certainly before it was made public.
Just saw on CNN from their sports reporter he remembered players who were paralyzed from neck down If they don't improve equiptment and rules for player safety you won't be able to enjoy those millions from a wheelchair IMO The NFL and all football have to get Space Age equipment or else this sport will entertain but ruin lives Now that would be just a step above Roman Gladiators fighting to death in colleseum ..ugh:/
