The team doesn’t need to be blown up, just retooled. Definite keepers are Dobson, Sorokin, Pelech, Barzal, Lee, Nelson, and Pageau. And you don’t trade Raty or Dufour. Everyone else should be available for offensive improvements, including scoring defensemen like Chychrun.

Or a new coach/system if the Lou is hell bent on this roster.

You are correct about Brock, I forgot they have Artie in the minors and that young man looks like he is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Same. I think Lou's contract is up after this year. At 80 and not doing a good job the owners better not resign him. Look at winning organizations and hire the next GM from there. They better not promote Lou's son Chris as the next GM.

There’s a good enough core to build around, they just need someone who can finish the job.

Exactly, they don't have to blow it up completely but there still needs to be significant changes to build around their core to get them to the next level. Lou isn't capable of doing the job anymore.

Lou’s biggest miscalculation this year is the belief that the roster was the primary reason for its previous success and could reach that success with another coach. This was a marginal roster with Trotz who was clearly the driving force behind what they accomplished. Lambert might end up being a great coach but it won’t be with us if he’s not given a better team to coach; he’s going to sink with this team and be the first casualty as they continue to plummet.

Another "wonderful" night in Islander land last night vs the B's. While there are some nice pieces in place on the roster, I think the owners have to clean house on the management side. Lou, Lambert just clean house after the season. We need a new GM who will want to bring in his own HC. What we currently have on the management side isn't working.

In many ways the bad games, one after the other, are a good thing - they might be the only way to get Ledecky to get his head out of his ass and do the complete tear-down that is so obviously necessary. Unfortunately, trusting a guy you're about to fire to start the process at the trade deadline is rarely a good idea. I can only hope that he is actually being a genius by convincing Lamoriello that he is the long-term architect, while knowing that he's going to fire him the day after the season ends.

Even so, not firing him after last season was idiotic.

The most important thing that can be happening within the organization is an agreement that the roster is the primary problem. After that agreement, it is what is the opinion of how to fix it. If Lou believes they are one elite scorer away and should trade away top prospects for that scorer then Lou is the second problem and needs to go and someone else brought in to lead the reconfiguration.

this is a team that is 2-3 years away from being a contender even with the right moves. That means keeping guys like Dufour and Raty and developing them to be impact players in 2-3 years. That means using players like Pullock, Beau, Parise, Varly and Anders Lee as incentives to get someone to take Bailey and Palmieri and having cap space to bring in top free agents.

most importantly we need to see how Lambert does with a different roster because the team’s inconsistency points directly to his ability to get a team prepared to play.

And if they hold the draft soon the Isles will likely have one of the top picks in it at this rate. Convenient.

Hopefully Lou’s genius is that he was playing for Connor Bedard the whole time.

I haven't posted here in a while. They are just a sad team to watch, which kinda reminds me of the Jets with Adam Gase at the helm.

At this point just tank. Hopefully this is a strong draft, and we end up with a good pick maybe if we are lucky the #1 pick, Check out these "wonderful" stats. Good job Lou/Lane.

Isles lose sixth straight, skid now 1-7-3 and they haven't scored in the third period in 11 games. Also, PP now 3/59 since 12/10.

Lou would take any positive sign out of this team to double down on it. The horrendous play of the team doesn’t give him that luxury and so he has to accept that it’s not a good team that requires an overhaul.

the fact that they have now played Raty 10 games and thus lost an extra year on his entry level period means to me he’s ready to move on and get younger, otherwise they should have sent him back to the AHL.

Fuck Lou! This team does not need a high-priced center, that was the one position we are fucking sound with currently with a highly touted prospect like Raty to build upon in the future. We need scoring wingers, and several of them. What a fucking joke.

Well, Raty is now gone, along with another 1st round pick...
