If Minshew comes in against this defense he'll pick us apart, he's like Fitz Jr. I'd much rather face Hurts.
Barring a QB change for this game, this might be the first game I don't bother waking up for. Watching the last two games sleep deprived has not been worth it at all. That Texans win was a win despite Zach, rather than because of him, and reminded me a lot of the Tebow era in Denver, except without the mystique that surrounded Tebow. I was hopefuly to see some improvements in the Texans game, but Zach's ball placement was terrible. There wasn't really a time I thought "nice throw", but there were several times I thought "nice catch!" The WRs were putting in the extra work to catch badly thrown balls. Even in the second half, I thought maybe there was a change with the Berrios catch and run which had me excited, and then the replay showed Berrios do a Hunchback of Notre Dame impression just to catch the ball before breaking out on that big one. At the moment, Zach reminds me of a person who gets a job due to family connections, and has fluffed up their resumé to make it seem like they can do the role. They seem nice, so you shrug it off and do your job, but soon realise that they're not good at theirs, and everyone around them is doing more work to pick up the slack. They go on holiday, and the temp that's brought in to cover makes things run more smoothly, and you suddenly see just how much extra work you've been having to do. They come back. and you can visibly see just how much extra work you're doing again. I think Zach needs to sit again, and really work on his issues over the offseason. He's just not ready yet, and that's ok, but trotting him out there regardless sends a bad message to the team about competing for their role.
C You are from New Zealand. How the heck did you become a Jets fan again? For real man. Game starts at 5 am in NZ. Just sleep. Not worth it. You can sacrifice sleep once we are a play off team. For now, chose sleep over the Jets. Lol
I think Zach Wilson will play his best game of the season this week. I just have this feeling. The Jets have never beaten the Eagles in the regular season either, so it will be nice for Wilson to change that. The Texans game was not great, but Zach looked better in the 2nd Half, as he has in many of his starts. This week he needs to get rolling early. I think he will. The Eagles defense is actually really good against the pass, but bad against the run. They will want to stack the box since they know the Jets run the ball a lot. It will be up to Zach to take advantage of those looks. As for the other side of the ball, I hope the Jets D can put together 2 good weeks in a row. The Eagles offense doesn't scare me as much as the Jets defense playing bad does. I'm going 28-24 Jets.
7am on a Monday since daylight savings happened, so not as bad as the start of the season. I had the hope this season of a new QB and being able to see some progression. Made the prospect worthwhile despite not being a playoff team, but now I think the sleep is more important, at least until the offense comes alive again.
For now. I think if he sits and works hard in the offseason, there's a chance. It felt like he regressed in that game to the point they took the ball out of his hands, but that might be because of watching a functional passing offense while he was out. Maybe he miraculously turns things around next week, but I'm sceptical that putting him out there this season is good for his development. I think I'm just more frustrated than normal since he was handed the job and it's now obvious there were significantly better options until he was truly ready. I've been similarly frustrated seeing Jarrad Davis return out there over Quincy (though it appeared like the Jets CS corrected that).
Minshew probably leads several 6-7 minute touchdown drives. Dudes efficient as hell and needs to be a starting QB in this league. I like Hurts too. Outside of Smith, their receivers are straight garbage though. Jalen Reagor might not be in the league next year. He dropped two dime throws from Hurts last week for touchdowns.
This is probably the perfect one line description of the situation the Jets are in. 3 backups can do the job and the guy they want to send out there can't. That'll kill any locker room in a hurry.
At some point they’re gonna beat them…they have blown such huge leads in several of those games and the problem is they play so rarely and whenever they do play is usually during a down year. For instance the 1982, 1985, 1998 Jets teams would of beaten the Eagles in those years…. But sooner or later after flipping a coin and having it land heads 11 in a row …..
