I'll say this: YES to all those things about Wilson AND his body and brain are working in sync with one another.
    Maybe Darnold was...special...ed?

You would, too, if that's how you got paid.

Not an original thought, but the jets should be seriously worried about backup QB. Morgan looked bad-- a couple of his passes yesterday weren't even close. White to me looks nervous and uncertain. Last resort is right--a VERY last resort. Might be a little late, but I would pay attention to waiver wire for QB cuts. I know,,, it will take them quite a while to learn offense, but not impressed with White or Morgan.

Jekyll and Hyde game. Watching Zach and the offense was awesome. Watching the defense was worrisome. Overall, fun and entertaining game for pre-season.

First, yes, ideally having a seasoned QB that knows he's a backup and won't cause any QB controversy" would be good. IDK if they can find one of those at this point. And before anyone jumps in and says "Yeah, but if they had signed one in the beginning of FA they could've had one!", I'll say "Maybe". Keep in mind that the best ones that fit that description will be pricey (relative to their presumed contribution). And also, there were probably 30 other teams they would've preferred going to besides the Jets. From the Jets perspective, they didn't want to sign someone who would create more problems knowing they were going to have a rookie QB, and not knowing how that rookie QB would take to the pros. We now know that JD had Zach penciled in already at that point, and one of the reasons for that was that he was impressed with Zach's mentality and makeup, so you could argue that if he was worried about Zach's "psyche" he probably shouldn't have drafted him, but why take any chances, and sew confusion when you don't have to?

So he turned to the QBs he had on hand, one of whom he drafted last year and who Gase never even let touch a football AFAIK. The other one - White - he was at least familiar with his skill set and makeup. And he finally signed what most would consider a "bottom of the barrel QB", which is about all that's left aside from a couple who are still hoping to regain a starting job. Maybe something better will pop up after the last cuts, but even if they do, they'll be starting from scratch trying to learn a new system and teammates.

As for judging Morgan as "terrible", I still don't think we can make that call yet. Keep in mind he was only given a few chances to throw, and he was playing in contrast to one of the best QB performances we've seen in years. Pretty much anyone - including White who only looked slightly better - would look shitty. Morgan has a helluva an arm and you can't coach that. He's capable of making any throw they ask him to, but as we saw, accuracy is his issue. But consider that there's a guy playing in Buffalo who had an accuracy issue to, and look what he's doing now.

If it were up to me, I'd try to find a clearly better backup and cut/trade White, or maybe keep White but put Morgan on the P.S. One thing is clear though: if Zach goes down, the Jets go with him.

Really good breakdown of all of Zach's throws yesterday.

On his second incompletion, it looks like he misses a wide open Jeff Smith on the second level.

Man, I didn't realize how badly blown that highlight play to Davis on the sideline was. The entire offensive line disappears from the overhead frame blocking what they thought was an outside run.

I didn’t realize that the coaches installed some of his playbook from BYU.

Great way to a new QB acclimated to a new system and it may be contributing to his early success.

Yea it's weird. Looks like RB lined up on the wrong side or something. Very odd

Morgan may have a helluva arm, but so did jets 1991 2nd round pick Browning Nagle. The jets wasted their 1992 campaign trying to prove Nagle was any good (7 TDs 17 INTs as I recall).

"No, no! If they can't play the genius system I've installed then they shouldn't be on the team!"

there were moments during certain seasons- 98 Vinny, 15 Fitz when we fielded a QB who was playing above average and with confidence

But both those guys were OTH, and we couldn't expect any long term success from them. Not to mention, I think Zach will easily out perform their best performances.

Yeah, but the difference is that the Jets were counting on Nagle to be the starter.

That look off to shift the feet of the linebacker on the touchdown throw to Kroft was amazing. So subtle but completely froze #44 and allowed Kroft to get open.

That's the kind of shit Darnold never did
