Make sure you fellas get high quality HDMI cables. Even if the broadcast isn't true full 4K it'll make a difference with the color although the normal eye probably can't catch it.
Fine tuning the picture also helps a lot, sometimes people purchase these TVs and don’t go into the picture settings and select the best quality picture. I’m still rocking a 55 inch plasma TV that I purchased in 2008 and it looks amazing. I’m going to be lost when it’s time to look at new TVs….
I already have the 65" version but I am moving that to the outdoor kitchen. There was so question in my mind which TV to get to replace it. LG makes the best OLED TV. I'll have to look and see what cables I'm using. Usually I just grab what I have laying around. As long as you take this TV off of torch mode, you are set. It has some very good presets as well. If you've never seen the LG OLED TVs in person, you should. It's night and day compared to plasma. OLED has the blackest blacks which is extremely important to me. Plasma is weak in that area. I'm tell you, you will be blown away.
Word of advice (I work in technology/hardware space) is to either go high quality or low quality. Don't find yourself in the middle. I.E. if you're in the $1200 range, just opt for the $600 TV. The Roku televisions are great on the lower end that will get you the same picture quality and features for the most part. Or ball out like these two guys did and get a Bentley.
That’s why I bought my Panasonic Plasma in 2008, the blackest black was important to me as well. It was such a beautiful picture half of my family went out and bought themselves same TV. ( we had tv for Giants SB victory over Patriots)… Thanks for the feedback, I do like LG products.
The highest picture quality available beyond the ridiculous 8K is 4K@60Hz (4:4:4). The resolution you're looking for is 3840 x 2160. There is not a lot of cable content available in this, let alone 8K. We might not see 8K content for a decade. 4K content comes from a lot of the newer shows and movies, but generally not your football games (yet). When you see someone score a touchdown and they use an on-field moving camera where the picture quality is crazy good, that's using full 4K cameras. Good article breaks it down below. https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/4k-1080p-2k-uhd-8k-tv-resolutions-explained/
While LG didn't invent OLED technology, they were the first to use it for large screen TV's and they really nailed it. You can get the 65" size for less than $2k. I paid $3k for it 4 years ago. Another huge benefit of OLED TVs is how light they are, especially compared to a plasma. I can easily pick up the 65" version by myself. And it's super thin.
do not spend money on expensive hdmi cables https://www.cnet.com/news/why-all-hdmi-cables-are-the-same/
Expensive is not equal to quality. There are hundreds of manufacturers out of the far east that mark their cables with higher resolutions and bandwidth then they actually support. A $15 cable can be a good high quality cable. There's a lot of peddled bullshit on the online retailers like Amazon and Wal-Mart that are not good.
all the ex-Jets, save Farrior are not/were not difference makers (Moss was the same as he was here, a solid NFL WR) so far... I see no change in that... until someone starts performing at a consistently above avg level... Q is starting to show this a bit, othern that? crickets (all the rook QBs are struggling mightily)
Things sometimes get rough when you’re spending the evening in a room at the motel 6 with a trio of midget hookers and a couple dozen bottle rockets.
Quality cables are better in only one regard... they are less likely to fail. There's no improvement in picture quality. Spend for build quality.
If they aren't graded for the output resolution of the television, there is absolutely a difference because the cable won't have the bandwidth to pass the content through the cable from the source.
Of course... you need at minimum high speed 1.3 HDMI cables... and even higher for 4K/8K I was pointing out that there's no point in paying for expensive cables that don't spec better other than (maybe) build quality. There's no shortage of hype & voodoo in the cable market. Get the correct cable with decent build quality and you'll be fine. Don't get me started on upscaling...
