Actually sounds like a good play call to me. Got room for the punter to make his kick and virtually no chance of a turnover in the process. 3rd and 9 from the 9 maybe you run a real play. From the 4 you're just asking for something really bad to happen.
You're joking, right? They gained exactly 1 yard, of course, which makes absolutely no difference in room for the punter, who already had 14 yards anyway (which is where punters stand anyway). If you actually cared about that you would call a running play that could get a few yards. It was an utterly moronic play call that showed that Judge has absolutely no belief that his offense can execute the simplest of plays.
Well, he's got Mike Glennon at QB, right? Just looking at the overall situation I think virtually any QB sneak on any play is a higher percentage move than letting Glennon do anything else. Also, when you're at the 4 you've got 13 yards unless you want to dick around with an unintentional safety on a high snap.
Everyone (rightfully) killing the Jets for running a QB sneak on 4th & 2. Joe Judge: "hold my beer" Hilarious. 4th & 2 QB sneak looks genius compared to this:
Wow, the Colts have to be worrying big-time about their decision to go all-in on Wentz. He really doesn't look like someone who can be "the guy."
Lots of NFL teams suffering for betting wrong on the QB. it's like the theme of the league over the last 5 or 6 years going back to the Winston/Mariota draft.
Gibson might as well moonwalked into the endzone... Giants have no heart at all. Just playing out the string already on their way home.
Taylor doesn't get in on 4th and goal from the 1. I understand how Wentz can underperform, but this failure goes all the way through the Colts team on both offense and defense.
If you want any evidence of why the Giants would be crazy to bring back Judge, look at how Jacksonville and Detroit are playing today. With nothing to play for, and real benefit to the franchise in losing, they've played hard from the first play, and given the home fans something to cheer about. The Giants gave up before they ever stepped on the field, and what else was Judge's job today other than to get the team to show up?
Jacksonville had clowns on hand to guarantee the players took note of the fact they had an actual game to play. Not sure where the Jacksonville ownership goes with the team at this point. Maybe London because they are wearing out their welcome in Jacksonville in a big way.
