I knew Minchew was going to dominate us so not too bothered. The Jets ability to let backup QBs have great games, if they are a late start or an injury mid game, transcends coaching staffs.
Truth be told it was a good move. Why put the pressure on Zach at the end of the half when he has played well and done what you asked him to do so far? Letting him throw deep in the context of the defense having to defend against a good running game is the way to go. With him making the easy passes today it made sense to avoid a high risk low percentage throw or two down the field.
It’s still coaching scared IMO. I know the kicker has sucked but at least give your team an opportunity. Taking a knee is waiving the white flag. Not to mention, Philly gets the ball first in the 2nd half.
I wonder what this post would say if Zach goes for it and throws a pick 6 or there's a fumble and the Eagles get to score again.
The QB has been a big question mark this season and the kicker is a huge void right now. So today the QB is playing well. You want to keep him playing well and the best way to do that is to keep him in his comfort zone. Yes, in other situations you try to make a low percentage points opportunity work, however in this one I think they did exactly the right thing. Even a deep Int against a prevent defense that had no effect on the game score could cause problems for Zach going into halftime.
Kicker can't even make an XP. So basically you are telling your QB to score a TD with less than 39 seconds on the clock against a prevent defense. No coach signs up for that.
